I watched it and I'm still confused. Were none of them able to swim? Were just 1 or 2 of them unable to swim and he/they kept grabbing the other guy and wouldn't let him escape?

I don't think it's an intentional suicide because it's pretty much impossible to force yourself to drown, at least in that shallow water. I can't imagine actually drowning that fucking close to land though like holy shit I learned to swim at a very young age so maybe I take it for granted but I can't imagine being utterly unable to figure out the most basic way to move your body through water to save yourself
