the issue with link has always been that the token is irrelevant. everything can be done without a token. The token is simply a means to fund the project. Oracles have value. An erc20 token that represents the company doesn't fully reflect that value and it's completely a choice for Chainlink to use their token for fees etc.

people have a misconception of a token as always being a coin. in programming, "token" has a much different connotation, one that is very well suited for describing LINK's role in Chainlink architecture

That's simply not true. The token is staked by data providers and paid by data consumers. When they hook ChatGPT and similar LLMs up to real time data this way, it will be bigger than Bitcoin. Not an exaggeration.

in programming, a token usually uniquely identifies something, which is specifically not the case for an arbitrary one of the billion interchangeable link tokens (and fractions thereof)

did you forget the part where it said it doesn't have access to real time data?
LINK is old news in the oracle sphere

lol lmao even

you don't need link to get real time data, just api calls
