its a modern mill, that was put into an existing building from the 1980s, its one of the cleaner mills i ve seen from photos in a while. The older ones you see in use are more jammed with equipment, which usually makes it more of a challenge to get bigger equipment moved around or repaired if anything fails.
A lot of modern mill layouts are modular as well, with lots of space between segments for lifts and over head cranes to access.

that depends on the sector, for public vehicles i dont see electric taking over for a long while yet, their generally too expensive and are still plagued by problems that ICE vehicles dont.
Transport trucks (on and off highway) are likely heading towards diesel electric, i am fabricated to see how companies like Edison Motors does in that sector. That companies current focus is converting existing trucks used in logging to diesel electric, as its more efficient for the west coasts mountain terrain.
Long term electric will have a wide chunk of the market in the future, but wont ever totally take over due to limitations in battery tech and cost to scale issues.

I don't think property prices have to go up or down much, commodity prices are much more volatile. If there's some kind of crash real estate could dip 30-40% even but commodities could crash very hard too. If there is no crash expect commodities to vastly outperform, housing hasn't even kept up with inflation in recent years. I think gold is probably going to outperform real estate either way since it's also somewhat of an outperformer during crashes, though gold is of course also sold off for currency during financial crises.

Thoughts on Trilogy Metals?

Trilogy and South32 own a 50:50 ownership of
ambler metals which has two projects (Arctic and Bornite) in the Ambler mining district.

From my understanding the problem now is delays with getting the 212 mile road constructed with permits. If it gets permitted, road built and project progresses ideally Trilogy metals would get bought out by a bigger company.

May throw some money in it. Or split it 50/50 between Trilogy and South32.

Ummm... Yes, always has been. You could either buy/sell things for bullion, or you could deposit the bullion in a full reserve bank and receive banknotes issued by the private bank or write check against the deposit. Whichever you prefer. Obviously the banknotes make things easier.

You could. idk about the 99.9% pure part, but I guess it could be feasible since you can make sub 1gram gold bullion. Banknotes probably won't get diluted under a full reserve system unless the banker is trying to run a fractional reserve scheme.

Steel futures have been cooling off a bit, looks like it's pricing in about 850 for the year. That's okay for me, but, not as good as I'd like. Great seeing gold up too though. I think for steel the DXY needs to drop to give a tailwind, and, that doesn't seem to be happening soon.

It's been done a lot in history so yeah it would be feasible, although not very practical in a modern context since bullion is somewhat unwieldy to carry compared to notes or a debit/credit card. I should point out that metals-based currencies have also been diluted and indeed also hyperinflated in the past though by simply making coinage with less gold/silver in it. I know an elderly lady who has been good to my elderly parents and who has severe spinal stenosis in the vertebrae of her neck. She is at risk of becoming quadriplegic and is understandably scared. My coal crusade shall continue. I want us exporting more to Asia, American coal mine companies either setting up mines in Asia or offering expertise on their processes, and I want to do my part to save American thermal coal.
Steelmaking coal will of course be fine, but that represents only around 20% of coal mining jobs in the USA. Thermal is in need of help, big time. Currencies operated like this historically, prior to the gold standard, but you have a logistical problem of actually minting all those coins, and an economic problem of producing enough bullion to supply currency. I would stay in America if this country had a change of heart about coal and just forego a woman. I almost became a monk in my youth anyway. But I won't think such a change of heart is coming. Trillions of dollars are now invested in "green energy" and natural gas. So the show is over for most coal production in the US; thermal makes up some 80% of the market. My future, then, naturally lies elsewhere.

I was talking with a highly placed manager at a met coal mine earlier today. He had some interesting things to say.
According to him, the USA only has a few decades' worth of very high quality metallurgical coal left. There are a few big longwall met coal mines in the US and many low-coal room and pillar met coal mines, which have much higher production costs per ton. The big areas for mining the best met coal are West Virginia, western Virginia, and northern Alabama. That's it, according to him. Some mines have 10-20 years left of reserves, others 30+. Then the USA runs out of high grade metallurgical coal.
I don't know if he's right, as I've heard that some coals in Colorado meet today's coking standards, which are much higher than in the past. And I tend to think we don't really know how much is underground due to a lack of exploration; just recently a huge trove of so called rare earths metals (which aren't really that rare) was found in Wyoming, and it might be the biggest deposit yet known in the world. The underground is a vast three-dimensional volume extending down two or three miles that would be realistically minable with today's technology and at the right price. Then there is that possibly 3-23 trillion tons of coal sitting under the shallow North Sea, and likely many other mineral deposits in shallow coastal water that are as yet completely unknown to us. So take those estimates for America's highest quality met coal reserves with a grain of salt.
Also, the Pittsburgh seam, which has been mined since the 1760s and still has enormous coal resources left (producing over 100 million tons per year of thermal coal nowadays), was once used for steelmaking coal. Lower-grade coals can be used to make steel, but the process of getting rid of the impurities would make the steel more expensive and industry-intensive to produce.
Basically, there is no steel apocalypse, though it is possible that the low hanging fruit principle applies and in this century the

I know silver and gold have been doing well and I don't trust the dollar to hold its value. It's been inflating away for a long time, but especially in the past 3-4 years.
