So I'm currently unemployed. I was thinking about just cycling through countless half dollar boxes through my local bank looking for silver. I have the time and resources I could 5 boxes a day easily. Could this be lucrative?

Nope, you can find silver in bank rolls. There are a lot of people who do it so they're getting more scarce

Twenty years ago it might have been worth it. Too many people search those coins now; including banks. Your time would be better spent tightening up your resume and getting a job.

why are you on this board, if you don't mind my asking? don't you have investments you can draw upon? not being funny because we all begin somewhere but most here have crypto or whatever

Do you have a plan for after getting kicked out?

>> No.58279225

30 years ago it was. now, no there is near 0 silver left in circulation. also after a couple orders the bank will start charging you, it costs money to ship big boxes of metal.

i have two different banks, and both of them said they don't keep half dollar rolls anymore when i asked them. it's a shame because I like to spend them at stores to watch zoomers brains melt down.

No, if the internet knows about the grind, there’s millions of penniless American teenagers with a smartphone out doing the grift right now. The only grifts that you can still turn money in are seemingly the ones with a big buy in cost, since no one has that much cash.

I see what you're saying. Hopefully right now is that moment for a lot of the youngfags, because shit WILL get silly financially again and if they're not saving/investing they will be worse off than today.

what these guys said

you won't find silver. In 5 years, I've found TWO silver dimes (FDR) and ONE silver quarter (wahington) so they blending in. You're better off searching for errors. There are the most errors in quarters (die chips/cuds/cracks) and pennies (double dies/composition errors, transition errors). Errors your will most (un)commonly find are worth anything from $5-$100 and there are $1000+ pennies but you are lucky to find one. Also search currency straps: $1s and $5s for "fancy serial numbers" you will find "nice ones" mostly with values of $5-$20 and every once in a great while will find one worth $100+

This will not make you enough money to make a living because the really good finds are few and far in between the $5-$20 finds- coins and currency. Also after finding, you will need a "middle man" seller like ebay to bring in your profits and you probably already know how bad the fees are.

bottom line this is a nice side hustle, but you are not (except in extremely rare instances) going to find silver, and you are not going to become rich unless you find one of couple remaining 1969-s double die pennies or similar gems out there (pro-tip you wont)

t. been looking at every coin i come across under a magnifying glass for 10 years, and roll/strap searching for 5 years.

As much as I want to call you a shill I gotta say I have been searching my pocket change for at least 10 years and I have found exactly one silver quarter.
