There are smarter teams of people working on trading bots. You have no fucking chance

i spent 2 years, mostly just losses, especially after the market died. It wasn't really a bot though that I made, it was more just data analysis looking for opportunities etc and I had an idea for a crypto platform I wanted to make but I just gave up pretty much. Waste of time really. I'm working on something non-trading related now, less stressful

generally true, but its worth mentioning you dont have to be the best/smartest/fastest in order to make money. you just cant be among the worst, which OP probably is. as an individual trader you are never going to compete in the same leagues as the big firms, and youre never going to make the amount of money they make. but if youre a smart guy with at least a couple of years of experience working as a professional trader at a legit firm, you can build out a reasonable trading business on your own if you have the time and money available. obviously, if you have ZERO professional experience and little to no capital youre completely fucked.

He's talking about trading bots and not normal day trading. You have teams of PhD holders working on this shit to barely beat the market.

why you bots are lossing.. what is the strategy??

the comment i wrote was about quantitative/algorithmic trading. i dont know what made you believe i was talking about day trading, which has been dead forever. im just saying, work 3-5 years at a legit quant shop and you will likely have the skillset needed to build out your own small trading business.

just to elaborate a bit : the big firms chase money in the "big strategies", like market making, stat arb, other HFT stuff. and youre never going to compete with them there. however, they tend to ignore strategies which scale very poorly. so if a strategy "caps out" at lets say 50k, 100k in profit a year, its just not worth the time and effort for them. this is where small players can come in and feed on whatever is too small for them to care about. if you can put together a couple of these strategies you can build out a decent business is what im saying.

What programming language is even being used for bots?

C++ most common for anything where speed is critical. python is also common

OP I don’t know if you were doing this with stocks of crypto, but I tried the same thing years ago in the crypto world with something called gecko bot which was open source and you could extend in interesting ways and experiment with many different strategies. Basically what it taught me was that all TA is an absolute joke. Cause I tried every parameter with every settings on multiple timeframes and all you will ever do is overfit your backtests to the historical data and produce something that crashes and burns in real life. To find something that works, I’d advise studying the work of WD Gann and getting away from all these indicators because I’ve proven to my satisfaction that’s just a road to nowhere.

You learned coding and have a story for an interviewer about how you spent your time. It's a win-win. Also, as you age, your penis gets longer from gravity. Congrats on that.

Business idea: do the opposite of what you have been doing.
