DRS is often believed to be like a lit fuse: if we continue to DRS then there will be a point where it inherently must take off.
As far as we can tell it might well be a trigger switch instead, meaning that there does need to be a particular or significant event first.

Given that the DRS numbers, and in the latest filing even the number of direct holders, are being obfuscated makes me think that as long as they can construct and maintain plausible deniability they will be able to simply coast along indefinitely. (Though it may cost them money to do so versus if we hadn't been there)

Let's say we lock every single share and so it becomes impossible to DRS or order any more shares via Computershare. All that will practically get you, assuming the above, is a relatively insignificant amount of people complaining. Everyone that matters, such as lawmakers, the SEC and the DTCC can just continue to ignore it or will remain unconvinced because there is no hard proof or there isn't enough pressure to do anything about it. And that's even saying that it will become impossible, it's not even certain we couldn't just continue to DRS even after passing the total number of outstanding shares.

I really do actually want to be hopeful and believe that all these attempts to obfuscate the information is actually to hide the ticking timebomb, but unless I'm missing something I think the fact remains that we can't tell the difference and we should take the other possibility into acount.

Just hold the amount of GME you're able to, the company itself isn't going anywhere yet.

I'm not able to find the info again but in one of the current DRS related posts on Superstonk someone did another simulation of expected DRS amount, based on a conservative and an optimistic rate of DRS (based on separate historical periods, because the first period of the DRS movement would reasonably have had a higher rate)
Note that this disregards the idea that the DRS rate went flat, as the current numbers might suggest.

I remember that at least the optimistic rate would have gotten us to lock the float by this time already.

The only convincing way I've seen mentioned for the DRS number to 'correctly' remain flat is if there is an equivalent number of shares being un-DRS'ed by other parties.
In theory this method should eventually come to an end when they run of out shares to un-DRS, resulting in the DRS number to start rising again as expected.

But I do fear that if they were to be able to manipulate the process/numbers in such a way that they are somehow able to "un-DRS" shares that were either never DRSed in the first place, or were DRSed but without being included in the number that is reported, (similar to how they might properly register a sell order but not a buy order) that this again brings us to indefinite obfuscation.
I think this would require Computershare to enable this behavior, which is not all that likely perse, but again I think it's something to consider.

One other idea related to Plan DRS shares. Even with the confusing language surrounding these the idea is that plan shares do in fact count as DRS.
But the idea suggested that perhaps the language for plan shares does allow the DTCC to count a number of these plan shares as not DRS at their discretion (the operational efficiency bit)
Maybe they are not really unDRS, but all they need is to be able to fudge the related numbers 'legally'.
So that would mean that they could keep down the DRS number for the same amount as there are plan shares that exist.

I think in an effort to decrease their inventory and close stores they probably put a lot of their older and slow moving invetory on sale to get rid of it.
If we take software (online sales) out of the equation then the $353m in rev loss is mostly just moving inventory and getting rid of old items with stores closing. Per store gamestop makes about $900k a year average revenue ($3.75b÷4169 stores) for 2023 vs 2022 @ $930k a store on average ($4.1b÷4413 stores). I have always been of the belief and suspicion that the reason why the DRS shares are capped at 1/4 of the shares outstanding is due to the 4:1 split that occurred and how it was improperly handled by every broker. Every broker just multiplied the shares by 4, when each share should have received a dividend issued to it of 3 shares. If that occurred and a dividend was issued, all shorts would have to close out their position as shareholders would recall their shares to receive the dividend. However, the DTCC said to brokers... "just multiply what you have on your balance sheet by 4, and don't ask us for shares... they're here, trust us! so don't ask for shares! It's the same to you either way! Fucking stop asking! REEEee"

And so the fuck up here is that all the shares in ComputerShare currently are real shares. All else are fake. The market makers, hedgefunds, investment banks, the treasury department, the federal reserve, the DTCC et al. they know this. And they cannot get people to sell without sending up massive red flags that current GameStop shareholders, holding to liquidate a system, are correct in all their theories.

That's why the DTCC took over reporting the DRS numbers, and why the language in reporting was changed on the quarterly and annual reports. The DTCC still only has ~75M shares from initiation, as they never properly handled the split.They HAVE to report that number otherwise it will throw their back-end off and it will become blatantly obvious that the retards from wsb, superstonk, gme, and everyone on 4chan holding this stock is about to blow up the financial system.

What is their plan now? To wear you out overtime, make you become interested in something else. OOO LOOK AT THE AI STONKS! SEE HOW MUCH NVIDIA WENT UP!?
