I would but they won't let me. I begged them to do it a few years ago and I had to convince them over the course of a month or two that making me pay market rates for rent to live with them would only put me back where I am now while pointing out that every single person I know that is doing well financially is only there because they lived with their parents for an extended amount of time. They then told me that all of my friends are spoiled rich kids then lowered it to 500 a month on rent. They kicked me out after a few months despite that because I was not taking "depression meds" they demanded I had to take to live with them and that I was "sleeping too much", ignoring that I was only waking up to work and had no hobbies because I was trying to save.

The most well off guy I know my age is younger than me and all he does is smoke weed and play shooters on Xbox every day. Only reason he has that much is because his parents let him live there for free. It kills me inside knowing how far behind I am just because my parents wouldn't let me live with them.

They still help me if I have an extreme expense but I think it's dumb they're willing to do that but not let me live with them as objectively I could have paid for every expensive I've had in the last year if I wasn't paying rent. What's done is done, just have to figure out a way forward, which is why I made this thread.

WFH yes but I can't really think of much I could do realistically. Moving likely wouldn't work as I'd seriously doubt I'd find somewhere much cheaper while making more money proportionally, and that's not accounting for a potentially worse quality of life.
