Give me a quick rundown on why this token is needed, a lot of people have been saying it is completely unnecessary

>> No.58051057

every mainnet transaction requires the token for the simultaneous exchange of value and data

Basically, LINK is the ticket to data. Data providers looking to make data available on the oracle network for secure, trustless use need to stake the token (Note: "need...token"). Parties looking to obtain trustless, secure data need to pay node operators using the token (Note: "need...token").

It's like this. Imagine the Hubble Space Telescope has a node operator providing data in a trustless, secure way. My AI I'm using to write a journal article can access this data to make sure what it says is accurate. NASA has to stake LINK and my AI has to pay LINK.

Now imagine that I am a car manufacturer and I want to obtain data on accidents and durability of my (and competitors') vehicles from auto shops around the country. The auto shops can stake LINK to provide that data, and I can access by paying LINK. This lets me train my AI to figure out which makes/models have the most accidents and potentially which ones need to be recalled to avoid lawsuits.

LINK is the ticket to data.

interesting. Does the Hubble Space Telescope have a node operator? What node operators are currently providing data in a trustless, secure way? Are any interesting ones coming online in the near future?

One step further: imagine I am OpenAI and I want to train my AGI on EVERY type of data I can get my hands on, and I don't want to do it in batch updates (the way they do it now), because those take years of preparation and fact-checking. The best way to provide access to data in a trustless, secure way for continuous training is through the use of oracle networks. The most widely accepted oracle network is Chainlink. So whenever my AGI wants to get better, it uses LINK.

It will be some time before NASA uses LINK, of course. It will probably be some time before OpenAI uses LINK, too. But we are on track for that future unless some better oracle network comes along (when it does, buy that one). The fact that so few people realize how big LINK is going to be means we're early.

To fund the company. That's it. The fees could be paid in the blockchain's gas, eth, sol, whatever.

Also, OP. If you decide to listen to these evil cretins, we have at least one of them doxed. So if you do miss out and want to kill them you can easily find where they live and work. And who knows you can also torture them into giving you their link and discord group and them kill those people.

it's really not that hard. Just a neat little idea.

Why do you think these people are wrong? The token is almost unique in crypto in that it is unable to pump. EVERYTHING else pumps but link. Why is this?

Doesn’t sound like LINK did anything another code base could not do.
Bitcoin will likely always be the best well known cryptocurrency with the largest network.
Facebook has all your friends and relatives on it.
Coke has the largest distribution network etc.

Why is LINK irreplaceable?

>> No.58051413

>>58051346
LINK is not irreplaceable. Any well-written oracle network that captures the market will do what I described. It's just that so far LINK is on track to be the one to do it. Like I said, if another Oracle Network flips LINK, buy THAT

Help me understand this.

"Imagine the Hubble Space Telescope has a node operator providing data in a trustless, secure way. My AI I'm using to write a journal article can access this data to make sure what it says is accurate."

Why would your AI need to access the data to begin with? NASA is the one to release news about the Hubble Space telescope on their site and through official press releases. No further verification is needed.

"Now imagine that I am a car manufacturer and I want to obtain data on accidents and durability of my (and competitors') vehicles from auto shops around the country. The auto shops can stake LINK to provide that data, and I can access by paying LINK. This lets me train my AI to figure out which makes/models have the most accidents and potentially which ones need to be recalled to avoid lawsuits."

Why do auto shops have to stake Chainlink at all? They can just enter into an agreement with the automaker to share their database of information, which they've probably already been storing for decades.

Even if Chainlink was a part of the auto-shop-data-sharing process, how can a virtual coin guarantee that the mechanics will report honestly? Does a Chainlink coin automatically send a lawsuit letter if it detects some strange accident numbers?

I do not understand either of these real-world use cases.

>> No.58052321

>>58052091
If a node operator is found to be falsifying data, they lose the LINK they have staked. If mr bozo auto shop just hands your AI the data, then they don't face any penalties for it being wrong, and no one else is verifying the data at all.
