I was over at my dads house the other day helping with some household chores. He lives in a very rural area of a very pro-precious metals state. At the end of the day we went to one of the nearby country bars. It’s the kind of place that farmers, truckers, legit cowboy boot wearers and the working class go to unwind with a cold one.

Bitcoin analysts were on the TV and the local gun store owner said to his auto mechanic (friends since high school),

“You know what? Bitcoins ain’t so bad. It's hitting all-time highs, nobody’s rioting, and metals are barely moving. Can’t believe I’m saying this but Ol’ bitcoin and meme coins got my vote from now on."

I looked around and all I saw were heads nodding in agreement. I heard a few calls of “Yes sir” and “Damn Straight” from the men around me. Even saw the lonely bullion dealer in the corner raise his drink with a nod.

IT'S OVER silver sisters.

This is why you buy silver. Big money is moving to gold and silver a few steps before everyone else, they control the system and they make the big money and buy assets at the low price first then pump. You even have Drake shilling BTC and telling people to ignore gold. So the cabal wants people to look at NVIDIA, and crypto while gold and silver get accumulated by the central banks at cheap prices. Then when there is little left, they crash stocks/Crypto and real-estate and then wil tell people to get digital gold and silver, LOL

Buy what has little attention in the TV but the banks and industry are competing for... silver is king.

I saw that video too. I actually found it useful but especially the part where he overlaid the CRB/XAU (gold USD price)...
The implications of the divergence between the CRB and Gold are very important: commodities are useful etc, but there is a growing premium on gold vs these. Meaning the market is planning on expanding this premium (highly likely) because of the unique properties of gold.
So the price of oil is going to go down in gold, but up in dollars. The price of lumber, same. The price of concrete, uranium etc etc...
I thought that was very indicative of what the commodities market is seeing.

also loss leaders. I'll sell at least one auction a month at a loss just to attract attention to my page. this

most of it has already happened. From the 1950's to 60's one man earning minimum wage could easily afford a house and a new car.

from the 70's to the 90's a husband and wife working minimum wage could easily afford a house and a new car.

From 2000 to 2010 a husband and wife earning minimum wage had a 5% chance of affording a house or maybe a new car.

now minimum wage isn't enough to live on, and even people making 5 times that much probably can't afford a house and can barely afford a new car. Families on minimum wage are also on welfare or they'd die.

Most of the financial collapse in the US has already happened. Newer generations may not realize it, but they do realize that things aren't working.

I understand where you are coming from, but i don't think that's the case with this seller. First because all his items were auctioned at 1 bux, none were identified and he doesn't have any left.
It was really some lazy listing too, at least for this week he bothered counting the coins, but last week he sold a bunch of ancient coins by lots and it was by weight : 200gr for each lot kek.

Imho that's someone who somehow ended up with a large collection of low grade ancient coinage, and tried to liquidate it asap without knowing what he got in his hands.
I won one of those "200gr lot" last week, it was marked as roman, but in truth it contained Greek, Carthaginian, Roman and Bizantine coinage. They all were sestercius or stater sized. Some were extremely damaged, while others were in great condition. Picrel was among them. A year 31 Justinian follis, nearly impossible to find in that condition usually.. this coin alone will pay for 4x the price i paid for the entire lot. A pro seller would never do this.

- you very rarely need to move 1 million with you
- if you have 1 million in PMs you most likely can afford a way to transport them
- if it doesn't weight anything it means it doesn't exist or isn't in your custody

Personally i see it as an advantage. It will be difficult for a thief to rob me 1 million worth in silver bars. Plus the fiat value is all relative. At $25/oz silver is heavy, but at $100/oz it become pretty light weighted.
My hope is one day i'll be able to afford a house just with my silver stack.

But nothing prevent you from going to a LCS and exchange your silver for gold coins if you need to move out.

Idk why people always imagine a scenario where they have to leave within minutes or they die. That's not how it unfold irl. You don't flee without a minimum of preparation. No matter if a civil war break out or if your town is getting bombarded. Taking 2 minutes to load up your stack in your trunk won't change the outcome.

There's a few others that are great for unsearched and unsorted auctions, but those two account for most of what I buy. They liquidate large collections and usually start auctions at either a buck or ten dollars depending on the item. They've each sold millions of dollars worth of coins over the last couple years without bothering to search prices. I've made $15-$25k per year just flipping their stuff. The FED has stopped the process of the banks asking for loans and then printing money to fund them.

The new process is that the banks all have fed accounts, and they can just increase the number (at the current interest rate) in those accounts at any time without asking for permission.

One effect of this has been the reduction in M1 and M2 money supplies, another the reduction in sales prices of homes with the somewhat higher interest rates of the last year or so.

When the recession hits, the lowering of the interest rate will lift the cap on this process for flooding the market with new cash.

The price of silver and gold this last week, to me reflects some acknowledgment that the dollar has painted itself in a.corner that is too difficult.to totally sweep under the rug. I expect to see a bit more of that on the coming months. But that's just investors and speculators making moves. Investors and speculators can put the price back up to 50 bucks an.oz if they get antsy enough. I don't stack for that. I stack for the day that the dollar shows a.fatal weakness due to overprinting and the world's economies sell off their dollar treasuries to try to save their own currencies. And the fed will say don't worry we can always print more to cover infinite debt and the worthlessness of the dollar will finally hit every main street. Then the price of silver and gold will go to the moon in Dollars but for a time no one will care to take dollars..what will they offer instead???

the problem with gold or silver is it already failed; it had its chance, it had a good run, and then it fucked it all up and got captured by (((bankers)))

Bitcoin is uncapturable, Bitcoin reserves can be audited by anyone, Bitcoin can be transacted to anyone anywhere near-instantly with the fastest settlement time

physical gold and silver SHOULD be used for local barter, but as the primary currency of the world, there is only one King

the worst part though is maxis and stackers are basically two sides of the same coin (hah), our real enemy is ultimately (((fractional reserve banking))) and everything that enables it: "crypto", paper PM, worthless fiat, etc

I agree. But America is not the only player in the global game. America grew incredibly wealthy in part because its status as issuer of the world's reserve currency allowed it to export massive amounts of inflation. That is the envy of every politician in the world.

When the dollar falters, the rest of the world is not going to sit around and wait for America to issue a replacement. There will be a rush to fill the vacuum. But whoever wants to emerge as the issuer of the new global currency will need to garner trust. That trust obviously is not going to come from the existing reputation for integrity of any of the gang of scoundrels running the world's governments. So trustworthiness will need to be inherent in the new currency itself. That means it will need to be backed with a real asset in a transparent, reliable, decentralized way. I think that points very strongly to a currency redeemable in PMs.

Gold and silver didn't fail. They were deposed through war, fraud, and the exponential growth of government power. The exact same thing can happen to BTC.

The idea that gold and silver are not readily transferable is nonsense. First of all, remember that the dollar was backed by gold until 1971. Do you imagine that nobody was able to transact business by wire using gold-backed dollars? Right now I can wire cash to almost anywhere in the world instantly using Western Union. The same thing can be done with gold and silver. And it could easily be done online using gold or silver debit accounts. It's really amazing how crypto kids think they are so technically advanced but they can't see how easily one could set up a gold or silver transfer system online.

Well, you'd need to have the foresight to get to your LCS before they also get out of dodge. It's not like they're e NPCs that will stay open while gangs with guns are running the streets either. This really isn't an argument against owning silver though, more an argument against ONLY owning silver. In a scenario like that you'd probably want some smaller silver coins for bribes and the like anyway.

The problem with this approach is that you can't trust the amount of metal claimed to be held by your bank equivalents without audits and, eventually, the audits will stop or be falsified, and then you're back where you started. Introducing digital anything essentially ruins the inherent trustworthiness of the underlying metal, but you can't transact at the pace we do today without some kind of digital ledger. Bit of a rock and a hard place situation that can only ever lead us right back to where we are now. TL;DR >>58041407

I think so too. My Christian faith points unequivocally at silver being the end times currency, (a measure of wheat for a denarius), but it also points out that there will be controls on it (mark of the beast without which no one may buy or sell). I'm thinking there will be time to make moves with silver before the new currency (whatever the powers that be come up with) has controls implemented upon it. That's my viewpoint anyways.

Oh no, Anon, that's all terribly inefficient and expensive. And just look at all the times audits have come up with different results, even with the same amount of gold in the vaults! That confuses everyone and causes undue distrust of the system. Better to let my friend--I mean one neutral third party with authority handle everything. Please do not read the CEO's early life section.

Only long-term. Short to mid-term a system like you're describing would be great, but over generations people will get lax. Honestly, this sort of thing might be the future, but hardly a perfect one.

It also does not and cannot display your name or email address (unless using ENS domains but basically nobody has those). Gold is for hillbilly’s who will never increase their wealth. Bitcoin is the master asset of the 21st century going forward. Why would you stash a bunch of shit in your house and risk it being snagged by burglars and/or the government raiding your house? With BTC, you can withdraw that shit to a wallet and memorize the seed and all your wealth is inside your brain… or on a sheet of paper or etched onto a metal sheet. 99% of us aren’t even going to need to have such a fucking psychotic bunker mentality about our money. This isn’t the 18th fucking century. And if your concerned about “muh tangible asset” shit THINK mother fuckers? How much coal and gas is burnt to make the bitcoin a reality?? This is tangible as fuck. Government cannot inflate the supply. In fact the supply is deflationary. And thus your gonna have the power of it mooning. Gold and silver will never do this for you. It will sit in your house or your bank vault doing NOTHING. But hedging inflation, bitcoin does this. It’s all tracable on the blockchain and you’ll always pay taxes on it ohhh boohoo! That's a bit of the charm to it lol. It is from commie China.
>not chinese steel
It is. But after the fall of the Soviet Union, Russia made money by selling top tier AK machinery to China, but China took the shortfalls of Russian AKs and improved them such as full chrome bolts + carriers, superior heat treated barrels and hands down the best available triggers at the time. China had much better quality steel after opening trade with the west than say during the Vietnam War. Sure a Jimm Fuller AK will mop the floor with it, but late 80s to early 90s Chinese AKs are among the best out there.
There is a single 2016 30g Chinese Panda somewhere in picrel lol.

I need PM autists to weigh in on an idea. Say if PMs become a de facto medium of exchange. What exchange rates would there be for changing gold into silver and back? Consider other PMs as well. In WoW, gold is pegged at 100 silver pieces, and a silver is pegged at 100 copper pieces. How would we establish an agreed upon system of exchange?

"We" won't... For the most part nobody here will be consulted... The local availability of silver to divide gold will be the de facto exchange rate and the local market will arrive at that swiftly as producers and consumers clash to get a fair price. You can arbitrarily decide to set it to a certain ratio based on what you think is reasonable, but if it's too far off of what's happening at the markets it won't fly

>> No.58046347

Basically we doubled gold production as a percent of silver in the last 200 years. Or we halved silver production as a percent of gold. Either one is true. We've got a shitload more gold and silver than we used to, but we're mining it at half the old ratio. The silver is running out.

I see some of your points. Silverbacks are a gimmick - just buy the art if you're that into it. Goldbacks are marginally better, but the markups are less absurd than silverbacks.
I've never seen dust, but can imagine handling it is a nuisance.
Nuggets though - I had never seen one before I bought one on a whim after the venerable PanMan suggested it (seeing as how I know I'll never be out there panning). Seeing that and handling that irl was a surprise. Even at only 9.5 grams, The natural beauty of it was intoxicating. I'm *very* thankful to have the sample, and I might buy another some day - of different configuration / structure.
Yeah - fractional is silly. I have to be able to see and understand it with the naked eye, and feel it in my hand.
Minted coins are my preferred, and never less than a quarter ozt. Full ounces if I can afford it.

I do think tenths, quarters, and halves troy ounces are useful since they can be used like pocket change. Hyperfractionals are in such small quantities and might not adhere to the troy weight system that is commonly used. A YouTuber introduced the concept of hyperfractional gold and I think it would make trade difficult. My criticisms are that anything I called out don't seem practical for trading nor investing purposes. It's cool if you want something unconventional for the novelty of it.
