I'm 90% sure you have bad intentions but I'll play along. Dealers and even local stores are in it for the spread. In theory it should not matter what the price is. Some shops have said they would close if silver ever mooned (implication being to just retire on their inventory I suspect). Others said the price is irrelevant and they'd continue to buy/sell no matter the price.

There are other factors to consider if silver mooned as well so its more of a thought exercise for now. We are in uncharted waters.

In the US COMEX limits how much the spot price can change in a day, 7% iirc, so large bullion dealers should have no problem floating the difference on any amount you can reasonably store at home. Even at inflation adjusted ATH silver just isn't that expensive.

I only keep a portable amount of silver, so I give no fucks about dollar value by itself. Maybe if GSR went below 60 I'd trade for more gold.

For the record I was in crypto before PMs but ironically the fact that it's possible for all this wealth that's not backed up/lending strategies/debt to even go anywhere and be traded makes me all the more concerned for a time when it gets shut down, even if just long enough to make the general public turn to something else.

So, I live in rural Nevada. Lander County, to be specific. And I've noticed a lot of Bitcoin bumper stickers popping up lately. Keep in mind, this is an extremely financially conservative area and it used to be a major silver mining region. But Bitcoin has A LOT of support here. Yesterday at the LCS I even heard a neighbor of mine say, "Yeah, I used to stack silver, but I think I'm going with Shiny Bitcoin this time around -- the hedge funds have our back!" And yeah, they do affectionately call it "Shiny Bitcoin" now. It's so weird. Something that never gets taken into account with regard to silver is the military application. Schectman made a really good point about that. It's likely that the military industrial application plays a major role in silver price suppression because of its strategic value in weapons like the Tomahawk missile. The old Tomahawk V schematics were showing that about 15 kg of silver was being used in EVERY missile (wiring, soldering, battery, hardening compounds, etc). That's almost 500 oz of silver in every Tomahawk V. This was decades ago and there are new missiles where we don't know the constituency (Tomahawk Va and Vb series), but the design hasn't fundamentally changed very much. I guess that's another way in which real wealth is secretly flowing from the U.S. to overseas.

I don't think there's any way out of that realistically. If people start trading goods for straight silver, I don't expect it to be a lasting phenomena. I would wish for a better world where at least one generation swears off any paper derivative and demands real money in exchange for actual goods and services, but I think the (((governments))) will provide some digital substitution and people will eat it up without really learning any wisdom. Just my pessimistic 2 cents. I expect pm to be radically revalued for a time in relation to other things, before the literal beast of revelation takes over.

The idea that you could actually take a handful of coins, let some rando dig through a world coins book, and then have him hand over a deed is even more farfetched. A merc for a hooker might happen, but not anything official.

You'd have to go to a money changer or the like either way.
