Is Bitcoin a psy op so plebs won't buy gold?

Gold is a psyop so people won't buy bitcoin. Gold already failed, which is why we live in the fiat hellscape of today.

Yes. That's why they changed the narrative to it being a "store of value".

its goldies getting filtered and psy-oping themselves. A lot of early adopters of bitcoin were into gold in that they favored a gold standard for example, and they came around to bitcoin after studying what it was for a bit. So yeah the smart goldies moved on to bitcoin and benefited tremendously from the decision. Gold still seems like a bad opportunity cost to bitcoin. Everyone goes through a skeptical phase and has thoughts like "this is too good to be true". Persistent gold boomers just don't have enough intellectual curiosity to ever figure it out or something, they got caught up in some pet narrative of theirs which doesn't actually matter or is just plain false.

Yeah, I dunno why they'd be all that concerned with a certain number of people going back to the currency that they already defeated.

That said, I do keep a little bit of gold in my portfolio. "Muh 5000 years," simplistic as it is, is a convincing enough argument that I'm not willing to forego it altogether. I generally see Bitcoin as superior in every way that counts, and the past fifteen years have certainly born that out.

Bitcoin is not even decentralized. The intellectual arguments for it are barren. Its just that it takes a lot of money to mine it.

Yeah "the second it becomes profitable". Unless you want gold at a million dollars an ounce, space mining isn't happening in your lifetime. You have no idea the energy needed to go into deep space.

The value of a Store of Value is derived from demand for Store of Value. SoV stores value dispersed within the economy by being something that meets the demand for SoV. If I buy something with good SoV properties and high network effect it will have SoV demand in the future and therefore hold real terms value.

Bitcon is the world's first fixed unit of account, trustless, stateless, transparent, can be securely self-custodied. A quantum leap in stores of value.
>so why isn't it already a billion trillion dollars?
Network effect. Capitalization. That's all that's left, and its network of use as a SoV grows each day.

Network effect is a positive feedback loop in a SoV as buyers of SoV want the SoV that others use, it's already passed the point of no return, this halving marks the inflection point where BTC inflation (1.7% now) falls well below gold's mining inflation (2%), at all future points BTC will only ever be a better and better fixed unit of account, there are no brakes on this train.

Store of Value is not new, SoV is omnipresent as it's a vital economic function. Something will be used as a SoV, and that thing will develop SoV value, value as a SoV, supported by demand for SoV. The ultimate SoV will be that SoV which best meets SoV demand. We use gold, property, equities, debt, and bitcoin as SoV right now. Pop quiz hotshot: Which best meets SoV demand?
