Why do crypto transactions have to be on the internet? Why can't I trade my coins by downloading them onto a USB?

I imagine it's something like this:
>person A: hey, here is my coin, please have it
>person B: thank you
>miner: it's all good guys, the coin has been transferred

He'd have to get the unique id of the coin and the sender/recipient somehow. Maybe through the internet, maybe from a USB.

I guess you could mail a signed transaction to a miner and they could broadcast it for you
