My hometown! Wait it out a bit, property in tampa is absolutely fucking bonkers right now. I grew up in Palma Ceia and a lot of my friends I grew up with, myself included, have left. Unless you can find a fully remote position, the pay you’ll get in FL even for a very solid, professional job is shit.

Add to that - you’ll be buying our bags. My mom sold her place last year and is in Raleigh now, my sister is in Nashville, my brother is in New York, and I’m in Chicago. My dad sold his place in 2022 and fucked off to Costa Rica lol. There was a point in 2022 I believe when the zip code I grew up in (33606) was the fastest appreciating zip code in the entire country. It’s an incredible place to live, but just unbelievably expensive.

I’d wait a bit before buying anywhere near Tampa or St. Pete. I’m not sure how many more NY/NJers and Midwesterners are left to buy at these prices.

Idk anon, rent is pretty high in St Pete 1.5-2.1k studio-1br range and most people are comfortable paying that amount. They already have some NYC builder work on some apt complex in downtown.
