Where do you draw the line between panic selling and stop loss?

Depends on what I’m trading. Low liquidity low cap shitcoin? There is no stop loss, we trade these moon or dust. Established coins are different. Buy resistance, sell support. Stop loss when resistance zone is lost.

Fair, thanks
Does it apply to leverage too?
If you try a x10 do you throw a small amount and ride it to the liquidation or add a stop loss and probably end up losing a 30% every time?
I lost some money and i wanted to try my luck with futures but every time i touch my portfolio i just make a mess...
Gif extremely related.

Don't do leverages over 10x, you'll just be losing your money to the fees, not to the market. Liquidations never pay off, it is a 100% loss, why do that if you can set your stop loss earlier? It doesn't make any sense, there's no scenario in which a 100% loss is an acceptable risk.

Anyway, the problem about stop losses is that most amateur traders simply get stopped out too early and they set them too tight, you should set them very wide in general, the wider the better. On the other hand if the logical stop loss(the most recent low) is at some extreme loss level like -50% then your leverage is too high and you aren't making any money long-term this way.

Got it.
Thank you for your time
I was trying to make an easy profit with short-term leverage but i ended up losing stuff
Guess i'll just hold hoping for the best

lookup some mean reversion strategies if you want to make a profit short term, trend-following is different and you won't be making money very fast(but potentially you'll make more)

Every sell before the end of the bull is a panic sell. Every sell after the end of the bull is a stop loss. Simple as.

When you decide when to sell. Before shit hits the fan = stop loss, after = panic sell.

I will ride higher leveraged low amount trades to liquidation. I had to admit to myself recently that I suck at leverage trading though and lose more than I make. Lost way too much trying to short different levels on the way up. I’m a contrarian, I can’t help but fight against the trend and it cost me a lot of money trading sometimes.

I stop loss if I buy while price is going up.
I panic sell if I bought while price is going down and buy back in cheaper
