It's a utility token used to pay for the services Chainlink provides. It passes the Howie test.

The real answer is:
It doesn't matter.

The Howey test is used to determine if an investment contract is a security.
The LINK token is a cryptocurrency token, not an investment contract.

I mean, I can make an argument that a Powerball lottery ticket doesn't pass the Howey test. But at the end of the day, it doesn't matter, because the Powerball lottery ticket isn't an investment contract, so whether it passes the Howey test is moot.

1. maybe - it can be used as a form of money itself to pay for services
2. Yes
3. Not necessarily - can be bought to use for services not only increase in relative fiat value
4. Well, maybe - again it depends. You can just use services of chain link to make profits via your own efforts vice like holding a stock where it depends how the company operates and performs.
You have to say yes to all 4 questions to call it a security. Therefore it’s not a security
>verification not required.
