So financially, whats the best way to play it? Occupy Wallstreet happened after 2008's crash and got completely subverted. I suppose things will continue as they always have, which means investing in big companies like Microsoft or Sony or Nintendo, or targeting midsize publishers like EA, Ubisoft, or Activision, knowing that M&As are inevitable

>How can indices of different countries dump and pump at the exact same time premarket when almost nobody can trade?
You answered your own question. There's fewer market participants, so when people trade, there's huge spreads, low liquidity, and higher volatility.
Remember that prices rise when demand is higher than supply and the opposite is also true. Order book depth and limits are probably being fucked with to mess with overnight holders. Banks do that all the time with forex. Or maybe indexes are adjusting based on the underlying, or people are placing hedges. Who knows

Question
Today, we had NQ go down 2%
Now don't get me wrong, stuff like factory orders shitting the bed was bad
But overall.. the economic news today was not super dire
Am I wrong??
What was the news today that triggered -2% NQ
To me, this seems like the first time, in a LONG time, literally more than 6-12 months, where we've had a -2% day on "nothing at all"
Every other -2% day (as rare as they've been) has been in relation to projected federal funds rate changes
What happened today?
Anyone care to speculate
I know that "On no news!!" is a meme -- today it truly felt like "On no news" -- indicative of the market topping out / bullish sentiment exhausted

And how many recessions have we had since 1999? 5 or 6 if you count the small ones that lasted for a few months? Statistically if you took 30 different analysts, at least one would probably call it 100% accurately. Even getting one wrong is in the margin of error.

The hoatzin bird found in the Amazon basin is the only bird that are ruminants. The guts of these birds can ferment leaves. In fact, it eats a diet strictly composed of tree leaves. The hoatzin also has very little evolutionary deviation in its DNA. Such species are commonly called "living fossils". It can trace its lineage as a species to as far back as 150 million years ago when the dinosaurs still roamed the earth.

Anywho, billionaires are selling positions of companies that they themselves either own or started. US Bank emergency funds are being shut down next week. Is the Kosher Krew in the US setting up a massive rug pull?

I bought Amazon at IPO and have been through six Microsoft splits, so I don't mind completely selling out my positions, especially when Bezos and Gates just sold out a few days ago. I don't want to bag hold for kikes.

Another instance of the Cantillon Effect imo. While it describes the effect that being closer to the money supply gives you better advantages (think banker or politician vs the average worker), I think it also counts for timing the market, since they have an uncanny ability to call the top and winners ahead of time.
I forget the exact year and currency pair, but I want to say it was the CHF/EUR that were pegged together and there was a price floor. Banks decided to put political pressure and remove the floor and price immediately dropped like 10000 pips for a day or two, or something like that

But these people are billionaires. Some of the richest on Earth. Simply by having their name in the news cycle is enough to sway/spook the market (human or AI trading software) and their respective companies a few points for better or worse.

Bezos just up and sold 50 million shares. Over the last few days, AMZN has hit and floated around the all-time high (pre or post split).

Gates just walked off the Board of Directors of Microsoft and the current CEO is hinting at liquidating his stock position.

They know something. They have access to the best economists and insider politicians.

>> No.57868726

>>57868697
Well it could also rally and trend upwards further, which you miss out on; but the time premium should account for that, and you're already quite profitable on it. It also depends on whether it makes more sense to just sell it right now and dump it into something better (eg maybe you want to derisk into bonds and they'll have better expected yield). There might also be capital gains considerations for options, I know that selling shares via options can be considered short term capital gains and has different implications than selling shares you've held for a while

OpenAI has fired back against a lawsuit filed against it by Elon Musk, using the billionaire’s own emails to show he backed the company’s plans to become a for-profit business. In a blog post on Tuesday, OpenAI said Musk insisted it raise “billions” of dollars to be relevant compared with Google. Musk filed the lawsuit last week against OpenAI, alleging the startup had strayed from its mission to build responsible AI and that it had become beholden to its largest investor Microsoft. In the blog post, OpenAI said that Musk was lashing out after trying and failing to make the company part of Tesla.

Are rate cuts bullish or bearish? Cause that statement sure doesn't sound like a june rate cut and also not like 3 or more cuts.
And it also doesn't sound like he's doing it because the economy is THAT great.

>Powell's appearance is at 10 am but the opening statement is usually released early.

Do not expect to cut until we have greater confidence inflation moving toward 2%
Policy rate likely at its peak for the cycle
We will carefully assess incoming data, evolving outlook, balance of risks
Labor market remains relatively tight
Labor demand still exceeds supply; nominal wage growth has been easing
Risks to achieving dual mandate coming into better balance
While inflation is above 2%, it has eased substantially
There isn't anything new here from what the Fed has been saying for weeks.
