Vermont, west virginia, and rhode island.
Vermont is rural and kind of off to the side, west virginia is the meth bastion of great wilderness which no one wants to touch, and rhode island practically doesnt even exist, I'm pretty sure the capital city of every other state is bigger than their entire state unless its like another delaware situation.

Probably West Virginia. Coal mining is their main thing, but the industry is rapidly declining. The population is generally older, as most young people tend to leave the state for better job/life prospects.

Land along the Mississippi, Missouri, and Arkansas rivers have the best fertile land in the world. But food isn't even 10% of the nation's GDP. I think as the world population grows, it will be worth a lot more, and I think that's why B. Gates is buying so much farm land.

Peter Zion blames the Jones act for fucking up industrial expansion along the rivers. I disagree with most of what he says, but he's right about this.
