I can vouch for Tarot. They're very close to Aerodrome and have one of the biggest veAERO locks. They were also wise to partner with a lot of up-and-coming DEXes when they were in their infancy like Ramses, Thena, and Velodrome, which gave them a lot of POL to swing around.

Their protocol is also solid, and they're currently working on UniV3 leverage farming through Gamma/Ichi as well as a full-blown orderbook DEX for Fantom Sonic. The lead dev is also extremely gigabrained.

If you have a CB account, the cheapest and simplest way is to just add the base network to your metamask and send eth to your metmask base wallet address by choosing base as the network on CB when you transfer. It costs about 20 cents. Then buy whatever token you like with whichever dex you want from your metmask wallet with base network open. Specific Instructiibs are also on the website and socials for most of the big coins.

You can see a listing of all base tokens on dexscreener by choosing base network under explore. Dexscreener will recommend 2 dex's with liquidity on each coin's page.
