You need at least 8 figs to stop feeling poor. I'm at mid 7 figs and I still feel poor.

The fatFIRE chuds would tell us to go to therapy, but I see right through them.

most people your age are probably in college having sex, making connections and getting degrees and sill over take you substantially by later 20s

Same. Part of the reason is other people use debt. But another part of the reason is that all that matters is cash flow per month. And to that end, a salary increase is worth more than a net worth increase by a ratio of about 10:1. So in terms of net worth, you should evaluate someone with 200k salary as worth about $2 million of savings. That will explain why you feel poorbeven if you have millions by the way. Because $4 million compared to 0 is obviously a big difference, but $4 million compared to someone with a 200k salary (think that's worth about $2 million) suddenly doesn't feel that different. This is all a rough estimation but you get the idea. In terms of lifestyle, a salary increase will be equal to about 10x saved.

I'll be blunt. $10 million (after all taxes) is the minimum you need to be talking like this. You fuckers talk a big game and then I always find out you're all single-digit millionaires. It's not a meme. $10 million is the first amount you can stop and say "ok I have a lot of money for my age."

>> No.57734050

>>57733828
And you're coping. I have a wife, kid, went to college and actually had fun, traveled a lot, and still managed to build an over $10 million portfolio thanks mostly to ETH. I'm 28. I defy your fucking excuses.

Almost. Going by https://dqydj.com/top-one-percent-united-states/, you'd need $13.7M to call yourself a one percenter and invite the guillotines upon yourself.

So don't worry, you're still safe.

(In truth, that's probably bogus, as all those high net worth stats are based on fuzzy assumptions and incomplete data, but whatever, it's fun.)

I plan to retire if my crypto portfolio hits $5-7M or so, then invest everything in some hedge fund of whatever that reliably gets around 10% returns, and live off of the returns until I die.

Is this a reasonable scenario if I actually get there in this run?

more or less, but:
- taxes will get you. even in a state that doesn't tax cap gains, even if it's all long term gains, count on losing almost 25% of your crypto pile to the IRS. so your $7M is really just $5.25M.
- pick a conservative safe withdrawal rate (SWR) to live on. the trinity study says 4%, but honestly 3% is a lot safer, particularly if you don't intend to die in the next 30 years.
- edge fund shmedge shmund. the trinity study 4% thing was based on a 50/50 stocks/bonds portfolio. may or may not be optimal, but stay away from esoteric financial products anyway.
- the first few years of retirements can be the most nerve racking, particularly if you're drawing close to your SWR and end up riding a market downturn. Once you see your portfolio balances continue to increase in spite of your withdrawals and your effective withdrawal rate keeps falling, it's a lot easier to relax.
