Dear brothers and sisters, I sincerely congratulate you with the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today we begin the spiritual preparation before the Lenten fast.
Notably, on this week we do not observe the usual Wednesday and Friday fasts. There is no clear record of how this came to be, so several theories have been proposed.
The first is in reference to this week's Gospel reading, where Christ tells us the parable of the pharisee and the publican, who both go to the temple to ask for forgiveness. The pharisee boasts that he fasts twice a week, while the publican merely asks for God to have mercy on him, a sinner. So for spiritual modesty, and not not be like the vain pharisees, we are not required to fast.
The second theory is to do with church history. During the time of the Council of Chalcedon, it was practice in the Armenian church to begin the Lenten fast early, on this week. Thus, in order to distinguish Orthodox practice from the non-Chalcedonians, it was decided that no fasting would be necessary at all.

In the UK what is basically our version of Robinhood is paying 5% (or 6% in dollars). I took profits so now I get £1 a day from that account on a relatively small about of cash. It's nothing but it feels comfy getting paid to do nothing but wait for the inevitable tech crash.

>70%+ gross profit margins = a bubble
Kek.
A more realistic scenario looks like this: competition ramps up chip production to capture existing profit margins. This reduces Nvidia's margins as competition competes the profits away. Which means Nvidia may experience lower stock evaluations. It also means that the market cap of competitors also increases, thus, there's a possible trade on small up-coming competitors. A bubble, it is not. But remember, economics is always about pairs: if there are more chips in the world, who benefits? And how do you benefit from someone's opportunity?

NAILED it. Buffett thinks holding cash is the worst use of it, and right now he's got it in US Treasuries while waiting for what he wants to do with it. He doesn't buy things that he thinks are too high and will be cheaper later. He read
THE
INTELLIGENT
INVOOSTER
and knows that Mr. Market will bring him much better prices. And absolutely he cares about his legacy more than just about anything at all at this point. He wants his last moves to be as right on as he can get them, and if anyone in the public has any inside lines on the ABSOLUTE STATE it's him.

The #1 guide on how to do this is the bogleheads
>https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/Getting_started
In summary there is investing and then there is gambling. 99% of this board is either faggots gambling options and leverage or "investors" buying crypto shit. You want to actually invest. And that involves buying companies you think will perform well.

But you're new. And more than that you probably have a job and school shit and hopefully hobbies/family/friends you want to spend your time with. So you have two options. 1) try and make this essentially a part or full time job and get your ass handed to you by the millions of people that are smarter than you, went to higher education to get a degree in this shit, work for a company as a giant group to kick your ass, and even spend thousands of dollars per month to buy a bloomberg terminal so they get to see the data a few seconds sooner than you (and yes that's a real thing)

So what do you do? You just buy the market. You appreciate the fact that you were born in the last 50 years and can just go "fuck it" and buy 4000 companies for a hilariously low 0.03% expense ratio and enjoy your gains and dividends.

To get a little technical the key tenant of investing is that "risk = reward". These risks can be quantifiable. And the biggest one is called "beta". In essence it just means "how much of everything do you own?" You buy everything you max out beta.

You can then go after "alpha" if you want but no one has ever failed to meet their financial objectives because they didn't go after alpha.

Our state legislature is a bunch of fucking idiots. 2022 during the state budget process they mandated a salary study done to fix the low worker salaries and to aid in worker retention. Said study was done. What they do? They shat canned it. "Wasn't detailed enough" I read it. Seemed detailed enough for me to grasp pretty clearly. They ordered yet another study done. 2023 rolls round. Second study comes out. Again it was shat canned. No explanation given. 2024 hits, Governor presents pretty fairly driven plan to aid workers salary issues. What they do? Gutted it and instead we're getting a 4% hike in 2024 and a 2% in 2025 with yet another study on order (3rd one). The irony; state is sitting on 3.7 billion slush fund. Fixing the salaries to make up for lack of any for 10 years would cost a puny drop in the bucket. You'd never see it gone.

So you know get up off the lazy ass and do it. Frankly due to their lack of action for 10 years on mandated pay hikes my salary is roughly 50% less now than what it should be. Way it's supposed to work; 5% like clock work every year. 5% x 10. That's 50% total. Working for the state now is a fools gambit. The only benefit left worth anything is the fact they can't just roll up and say "your fired" on a whim. When I started (2005) things were different. Think god. I'm in the good retirement option.

Read Trust, by him. Why is America so significantly productive than any other country? There's the technology and industrial explanation, but that's obvious and everyone knows that. Fukuyama offers a somewhat cultural explanation: Americans are trust worthier than any other country. In Asian countries, nepotism is rampant: though better employees exist, Asians typically trust their family more any other, and thus the son takes over the company despite the son being incredibly incompetent. Nepotism still exists in America, however, the difference is that Americans are *willing* to hire outside familial bonds: if somebody has more merit, they will take over the company, regardless of bloodline. Extremely important to economics.

I believe SIPC insurance works under the principle of returning the same number of shares back to you. So the number of shares you hold in SPAXX is safe, but the amount of money as a dollar amount could theoretically be broken in a buck breaking scenario. SIPC after all is not meant to prevent market losses.

FDIC only has 2% coverage ratio on all the deposits they insure. If they lack the funds, they borrow from the treasury. The treasury backs all the securities inside of SPAXX, which is a government mmf, outside of repo which is parked at the Fed.

Buck breaking of SPAXX would involve a problem with the treasury market, which jpow has on record under Bernanke said he'd be willing to buy defaulted treasuries to keep treasury markets smooth.

anon means that the FDIC can't back what is typically implied. They operate like an insurance company, only holding what they think they need statistically year to year. When a bank fails it goes to auction, and the FDIC only injects funds if the buyer who wins the auction does so below the insured deposit liability the failing bank held. If the FDIC runs out of funds, it borrows from the treasury. Most of the time the auction buyer to make the insured deposits whole, and JPM was given a sweet 80% loss sharing deal with the FDIC to make SVB entirely whole because regulators were worried about flight contagion if anyone suffered any losses.
