The green bond was issued as an ERC-3643 token through Tokeny, an infrastructure platform that uses Polygon to allow financial institutions to issue and manage securities and financial instruments

A quick example from pic related is tokenizing real estate. Instead of looking for a single buyer to purchase a house, you could tokenize the house and sell it piecewise on the market. This would allow money to come in faster (though it remains to be seen how much more effective this is than dropping your asking price down to attract buyers and closing a sale that way).

The thing to note is that trading on the blockchain is a massive improvement from the current system. There's a lot of logistical and administrative overhead to contend to that are completely eliminated with using a smart contract and with the blockchain being online 24/7.

It basically streamlines asset transfers without compromising security, which is huge.
If you do any real business with a bank, you already know how much of a pain in the dick it is to move money around or buy property.

For example, right now I’m in the middle of buying a new office for my business, and I’ve been going back and forth with the bank on the financing and everything before I can close on it.
If you have a tokenized asset, the banks aren’t as worried about putting you through the wringer because everything is verified through the blockchain like your banking profile and the value of the asset.

The problem I see with this new system is that the gateways to starting and/or growing a business will be much difficult to get through when you’re dealing with the verified web.
I started my business and got to know my banking rep who was basically an advocate for us to get credit lines and grow using the banks capital.
People act like it’s archaic or whatever, but the boomer method of actually dealing with a human is really helpful when you’re trying to start a business or grow it.

You could get conspiratorial about this but the fact is that those with resources that are cryptographically verified are going to be able to have access to capital, while those who don’t will be shit out of luck.
The process of starting and growing a business to any real size is about to be 100x more difficult and a 100x longer grind.

I don’t really care because I’m already in private banking, but those of you who are waging aré screwed unless you have a decent link stack.

i did some research and determined that they all became interlinked when v1.2 was released on 1/15/24.
https://docs.chain.link/ccip/release-notes
also worth noting that they took down the v1.0 testnet on 2/7/24 and the v1.0 mainnet is up and running in parallel until 3/31/24

This is a high quality post but it’s the tip of the iceberg. Speaking as a bankfag, the biggest immediate advantage, and the one that is getting the most attention currently chainlink ability to let banks and financial institutions use blockchain technology to record data and communicate with each other securely and efficiently. Major aspects of banking tech architecture are built on legacy systems from several decades ago. The securities industry stands to benefit from blockchains in a massive way and if chainlink enables this and captures even a tiny fraction of the total value transacted then it’s going to fundamentally alter the global financial industry. It’s looking increasingly likely because chainlink also allows banks like JPM to keep their own chains internally and then connect to other institutions as needed.

> Open interest refers to the total number of outstanding derivative contracts, such as futures or options, that have not been settled for an asset. It represents the number of contracts that are held by market participants at the end of each trading day. An increase in open interest indicates new money coming into the market, suggesting that investors are initiating new positions. Conversely, a decrease in open interest suggests that investors are closing out their positions, which can provide insights into market sentiment and potential price movements.
