Unironically at this point just buy a plot of land in the middle of nowhere and order a trailer that you'll plop down on it, land can go as cheap as 5000 to 10,000 dollars for a couple of acres and trailers go for around 60 to 75 grand.
There are multiple laws in place now that prevent homes that are affordable in the price range of 100 to 200 grand from being built as a part of the middle class being eliminated. If you want your own your own land and house that's the only way your going to be doing it at an affordable price. Trailers are very easy to maintain too, don't let normalfags who don't give a shit about their living space trick you into thinking that they're for losers only.

There's a pragmatic argument for plywood houses, and then the same people will tell you that housing is a great long term investment. It's a squeeze from both ends. Made worse and cost more. Plywood would make sense if the houses were dirt cheap and meant to be knocked down and rebuilt every so often. I could see housing as an investment if it was made out of precious materials and made to stand for centuries. But both can't be true at the same time. It would be like saying a cheap plastic shoe from Nike should cost the same (or more) as a handmade leather boot.
