Chainlink is a part of the stake.link node council or whatever, they've gotten a cut out of the stolen investor funds.

HOWEVER, the community staking protocol has a contract function the priority pool is calling to stake link in. And the staking APY setup seems designed to help pay back investors since the APY for stake.link practically doubled from V0.1 to V0.2 and it'll jump again massively due to stagnant stake.link pool while another 20M Link will be staked in the community staking pool.

It remains to be seen how the BUILD rewards will be distributed; if it's better to be in the official staking pool or to be in the stake.link pool.

How does stake.link offer a better LINK reward rate than native Chainlink Staking?

stake.link deposits LINK to Chainlink’s native staking pools for both node operators and community. Each pool receive a base reward rate of 4.5%, while the community pool pays a 4% Delegation Fee to the node operator pool.

In the current iteration of Chainlink Economics 2.0, the community pool effective rate is 4.32%. The node operator minimum effective rate is 6.28%. However, node operator rewards are not fixed to 6.28% of actual stake, but instead fixed to 6.28% of maximum possible stake. The maximum possible node operator stake is 4,125,000 (75,000 per each of 55 node operators) and the actual staked amount (as of Feb 2024) is 2,095,644. Effectively, the max rewards are distributed regardless of staked amount resulting in a node operator effective rate of 12.37%

When you stake your LINK with stake.link, you receive a blended reward rate from the commonunity pool (4.32%) and the node operator pool (12.37%) less protocol fees. As of Feb 2024, stake.link users have an effective reward rate of 8.36% compared to the native Chainlink staking effective rate of 4.32%.
