Is it worth it to finance a new Corolla/Civic strictly for Uber? I have a job but I need a side gig and Uber eats and door dash fucking suck. I could get a new car though and drive for Uber part time. I’m in a solid area. Any bizfags have experience with rideshare?

It's never worth financing a car, especially when you'll be losing so much gas/depreciation on car (reminder the IRS standard rate is 65.5 cents/mile, that's how much you lose while driving). Get an older used one that you can afford.

>> No.57650548

You could buy a 2016-2019 with 70k on it for not even half that, why would you buy a brand new car then fucking doodoggle it on Uber/Doordash for the entire depreciation window, that's fucking retarded brother

Why?

It doesn’t matter. Do what I did and finance a 2023 scatpack

>> No.57650652

Just a a certified used one from dealer, get extended warranty and rape it.

I already have an older used one. Thing is Uber is constantly making the vehicle requirements more strict. If I get a new car I’m good to drive for them for a long time. Any decent car for Uber I will have to finance, new or used unfortunately.

>>57650569
Yes

>>57650548
Even if I blast 100k miles on this thing in 4 years of Uber and paying it off, it will only depreciate like 50%.

I also just want a nice, new car. A car I can shut the door and hear nothing. No fucking ratting when I drive. No more feeling like a total poorfag. I dunno bros

I get where you're coming from but a brand new ecobox is still an ecobox. They don't have magnaride-tier smooth suspension just because they're new, it's still a mass produced car with a short wheelbase and rattly hard plastics everywhere. If you really want a new car then you do you but I'd at least go for a camry or something man. A new mazda6 would probably be perfect for what you want to buy new, but Americans hate sedans so they're discontinued

How strict? And do you really see yourself doing this for many years?

They switch it up depending on the state but basically the main requirement is your car must be no older than 15 years old, which will soon move to ten and soon disqualify me. And no probably not for many years. But at least 2. I live in a good area for it though so who knows?

>>57650755
Makes sense. I just want something nice that I could still maybe profit off of. It’s not unheard of to make 2-400 a day of hard uber/lyft where I live, which would be a nice source of supplemental income

I have the 2024 carolla hatchback after my old civic died. It doesn't matter. Just go ham and make tons of money as hard as you can and pay it off. What the fuck else are you going to do anyway? It's just a car.

>> No.57653392

Buy the oldest Corolla you can buy and still qualify to use for Uber. Get one that had the oil changed regularly and was kept clean. It'll keep going forever.

Financing a car for this purpose does not make sense

>former Uber driver, current Uber Eats and Door Dash driver

Anon, I don't move people, I deliver food. I like listening to podcasts while I work and I hate having strangers in my car, but the other reason I don't move people is, like you said, you need a new car to do it. To deliver food, you can drive any old junker.

Everyone here is telling you that financing a car is stupid and I'm not sure why you insist on driving people. Some people hate getting out of the car to pick up/drop off food.

In any case, you're determined to do Uber, which requires a new car. There's a reason people are saying it's dumb. However, it can work but only if you're determined to make it work. In order for this to be a sound financial decision, three things need to take place:

1) you live in a good market for Uber - lots of demand and good tips
2) you're willing to work your ass off. No, 40 hrs/week doesn't cut it. Aim for more like 60. If you can't do that, don't finance the car
3) You know cars and know how to take care of them and can either do it yourself or know a good mechanic, and then you take care of this car. Pamper it.

Only if those 3 conditions are met does your plan make any sense.

New car gets more picks

Go for a corolla hybrid.

Also corolla is a taxi car in whole South east Asia. It is that reliable

The 10 year warranty is esp. nice with diesel because the emissions equipment most likely get burned the first time in the first ten years. Although if you drive like a traveling salesman you might get spared from the soot gremlins.
>>57650680
Get a Lexus CT200h or a Prius. Those are proven, high utility uber appliances. Technically they're pretty much the same but with the Lexy you get the slightly less aerodynamic (and gay) hatchback shape, better interior and ride dynamics.
