Does anyone else lie awake at night fantasizing about buying 10,000 BTC back when it was worth like $0.0001 each? Sometimes I even handicap my fantasy by imagining that I sold 1,000 BTC each time it added a zero, starting at $1.

$1 in 2011 = $1,000
$10 a few months later = $1,000 + $10,000 = $11,000
$100 in early 2013 = $11,000 + $100,000 = $111,000
$1,000 in December 2013 = $111,000 + $1,000,000 = $1,111,000
$10,000 in mid-2016 = $1,111,000 + $10,000,000 = $11,111,000

Plus another 5,000 BTC remaining whose current value = $259,379,000.

But then I reflect on my choices back then and recognize that I probably would've ended up in jail if I were that rich at that age.

I used to dream about going back in time with my current knowledge. Eventually I stopped because while fantasy is really alluring, there is no turning back time and I have to find a way to make myself rich in the future, not in the past.

What you have to remember is that even if you did but that many back then, you almost certainly would have sold when it 10x or 100x. It is extremely unlikely that you would have waited for a higher return

desu i don't even know what I'd do with a couple million dollars even if I had it. Definitely not working a bum job. Probably just do a bunch of outdoorsy stuff. But other than that... Idk. Buy whores, I guess. What would you do?

I'd make and sell custom furniture.

If I had $2m today, I'd pay cash for a $275k house in a large, modern, midwest city. I'd take another $25k to bootstrap my workshop. I'd put the remaining $1.7m in SPY and enjoy that sweet 7% inflation-adjusted annual return in perpetuity, which is ~$120k/yr in today's money. I'd be able to supplement that with earnings from my custom furniture business to build up a cushion and get me through the tough market years.

Yep, like bro said, I held for a very long time, and sold out in Jan 2018. Never truly believed and wanted a pay day. I still think about holding everyday... Maybe that's worse?

No but I do fantasize about $LRDS not shitting the bed and dying like most of its kind. And that's because it hasn't even released just yet. No point in fantasizing or thinking "what could have been" over something that has been out for almost two decades now.

No I don't because comparisons and rumination are the killers of joy and they both kill drive and aspiration. "Why bother I already missed out" etc.

remember not pulling the trigger on buying 4 BTC for $2k back in 2016 or so when I watched a vid about the halvening and figured the price would have to go up. but then again i also figure I would have sold once I got a decent return and wouldn't have held for so long so meh.
