Anyone here sell calls on Fidelity? I just got approved for Tier 1 option trading, and I want sell calls on my 88 NVDA shares, but I think I'd need 100 for it to be fully covered, so the system rejects it. Anyway to get around it or should I go to Tier 2/3?

Dude I've been Tier 1 for like a year now. Believe me, they're protecting you. You don't want to lose all of your NVDA shares.

If you make one bad trade and it goes the opposite direction, and you end up owing some other guy thousands of dollars on margin, and you can't pay, Fidelity will just liquidate. They'll fucking liquidate your NVDA shares for whatever price it is at that moment. They won't wait for an opportune time.

You know this right. This is what's called "blowing up an account."

Get a credit card from an airline. I looked up the one from United, you get miles instead of cashback, have 2 free lounge entries per year, and the first year is free, then it's 95$. But you can just cancel before the fee. The best benefit was also 60k free miles when you sign up if you spend 4k in the first 3 months with the card. That's enough for a pretty long flight or 2-3 short ones, totally free. Also you can check bags for cheaper I think. Other airlines are probably similar.

bitcoin will pass microsoft in marketcap this bullrun triggering the algorithms to stop pumping MAG7, the CRE crash in 2025 will trigger a worse crash. Monero will outperform every stock and crypto in 2026 in percentage gains. Some acceleration of conflicts around the globe around 2027 to 2031 will cause AI progress to crash, tech layoffs enter a doom loop around 2027, google will drop below exxon in marketcap as price of barrel of oil goes above 300 dollars. Tesla is delisted around 2029 after elon musk is arrested and put on trial for funding a president candidate in 2028 that openly calls for texas breaking off from the united states. JPmorgan stock plummets around 2032 after their servers are compromised and CBDC servers are ransomware'd and turned into monero mining rigs.

But as a seller, you just calculate premium+strike value to figure your price/share and if its acceptable, then write it. Just make sure you have that 100 to be safe.
Realistically early assign only happens ahead of events for ITM options like ER or divvies.

I use Questrade, but when I post orders, I can do a custom options order, which can involve buying/selling the shares in addition to writing or buying puts/calls as part of the transaction. I can do this in my TFSA which only allows CCs and a few other covered strategies. Fidelity should absolute allow this as well, but I can't speak from experience.

But using picrel as an example, provided you can combine them into one option transaction, you would receive $11,175 in premium for writing a 630C Mar 15, which is then used to buy the other shares at current market value (again, provided it allows combined transactions).

If it has 0h to expiration, the 630C contract should cost exactly the difference between the strike and the underlying, that is $9,683. But you're getting $11,175 for writing it - nearly $1,500 in premium which represents the time value and volatility of the contract.

(this graph has a weird P&L because it only accounts for the 15 new shares, not the ones you have since I don't know your cost basis)
Alternatively, just buy the missing shares and write a call ITM for whatever you paid for them to cover the cost.

I am looking forward to seeing movies or games generated using AI tech in the near future. Could allow for a lot of creativity to be unleashed without having to be controlled by Hollywood.
