Your father isn't necessarily wrong, but his opinion would only be valid 60 years ago ish when shuffling paper around to eek out some fees would actually be parasitic. Today, it's a different story. There's no reason to play it 'honourably' and try to 'contribute' to the """economy""". Appropriate as much wealth for yourself and family as humanly possible by whatever means so long as it doesn't involve outright theft, poisoning, or murdering of other people.

Stop listening to everyone except for your mother since clearly she has the requisite experience and knowledge to help you out, assuming she's willing to do so.

Also your male friends aren't necessarily wrong, but they are pussy-footed. Fortune favours the bold, but not the stupid, so tread carefully, but make sure that you ARE *treading* to begin with, don't just say in one spot.
