can you retire with $1million in USA?

not if you want a wife like that

>> No.57600212

no you need about 5 million to retire and have enough to raise a family on a middle class life

1 million, however, is enough to stop working a job (or 500k if you live in a cheap region), not needing to work a job vastly improves your quality of life, and make your 5 million trading or doing whatever you want, which is what really matters for most people on this board anyways

Completely. That is, if you still work from time to time and not NEET forever, but with some good stable investments and without acting like you're Elon Musk you can assure even your grandkids will have money. I soft retired three years ago after my GF moved in with me, i keep working as a freelance programmer but only on jobs i genuinely enjoy and with people i know are doing things that can genuinely help the human race. My gf is a surgeon so even tho im loaded she still contributed to the household and choose to keep working, we're planning on having a child in around 4 years or when she gets fed up from her work, life is good we're taking it easy. I had a net worth of 700k when i retired, i still hold most of the same stocks, same with crypto (BTC, ETH, AGRS) all long-term investments and solid and even tho i've spent a lot of money my net worth has grown to 1.3 million
So yeah, just be smart lol

Your pic literally disproves that, retard. You'd pay only a few thousand on $40k income. It would most likely be capital gains anyway so income tax wouldn't even come into play.

Yes, with a brain you can.
I am making $100 per month dividends with around 20k (I bought too high)
Multiply that by 50 to get 1 million and now your dividends is around $5000 per month.
FREE MONEY THAT YOU NEVER WORK FOR
Plus 1 million that you can always cash out
You think you are not able to retire with 5k per month as a single person?

Tax man takes 14.94% on $40k/yr IF IT'S INCOME (already including medicare, ss, etc)
Since this would be long term capital gains, it would get taxed at 0%. Qualified dividends would also be better than income tax rate, but I don't know what the actual rate it

Maybe but probably not safely. You'd be renting the rest of your life. One million after tax and you own your home? You could probably swing it frugally. But I think the magic number is 2mil since that lets you sit in fixed income vehicles and relax and collect a salary even if rates drop like rocks.

Sure, if you're single and in a LCOL area. SWAR of 4% for $1m is $40k per year, and it's going to be subject to 0 taxes at this rate, meaning it's the equivalent of ~$55k normal gross wages. Not a lavish life by any means but fine for simpler people.

There is a hack to this if you have a rent controlled apartment in some big cities. Get one of those for around 2k a month and your rent never goes up. You essentially have a home for life provided you don't want to start a family or anything. If it's just you, you can retire to some degree on 1 million but just do what I'm doing. Bartend a few nights a week and make a little extra plus you get to meet girls.

middle class lifestyle = 100k year = 3.3m

For me, the real question is why ever retire? If I die in my cubicle, someone will clean it up. We can save for retirement, but we don't need to worry about it. The end will come eventually. Live in the moment, frens.
