There was one single class for that kind of thing when I was in high school. I credit it as the most useful thing that school taught in t he whole three years. It was: how budget, how deal with taxes, how to do tax write offs in creative ways to pay less (the guy teaching this class was absolutely based). Interest. Mortgage related information. He spent two days on what to expect when/if you attempt to buy a new car.
