Etherscan will usually label exchange addresses.
Try posting on reddit.

Report it to the FBI and contact all the major exchanges. They can blacklist the address so if it gets sent to any of them it can get frozen but I'm not gonna lie, it's looking bad.

Just so you know, you don't need any transactions to "recover" a wallet. You don't really recover wallets, you just use your private keys/seed phrase to access them, no transactions required.

Interesting. I see it in the store but it's very old (current version is 24.1.29) and it only has 2 reviews. Nasty flatpack. You should have grabbed the .deb off the website, I never use the store for anything.

But since you're running it in a VM, all bets are off. Anything that could be infecting your Winblows box could have grabbed seed or prv key while you were on the VM.

I mean, I'm OP so my advice is shit, but I would try to recover from your 12-word secret on an OFFICIAL Exodus wallet from their OFFICIAL website. The Windows one i used was good.... the Ubuntu one was a fake and I got suckered.

if this is where your funds were sent, they haven't yet moved. normally scammers will immediately start siphoning them through many wallet addresses.

Update the app from the app store? I don't see the issue anon, especially if it's on an iPhone. if for some reason you are not comfortable with that, download the exodus wallet on another device and use your seed phrase to access your link. MAKE SURE its the official Exodus app or extension.

I mean hot wallets are safe so long as you are not a degen trading and clicking every link for every crypto exchange or shady site. also don't interact with NFTs or tokens that you don't know of from dusting attacks and you should be golden. hot wallets are usually safe, but the private keys are stored on your system. a hardware wallet is airgapped, and thus private keys are not exposed to the internet by any potentiality.

on the other side, the use of hot wallets is a bad habit which can result in something such as OP's situation. even the best operational security can get fucked by your one stupid mistake.

no, you'd need some more BTC in a wallet that isn't derived from the exposed seed. but, you'd reference the transaction hash in the message and just say hey, you took my btc. it was my retirement. please, can i have it back? etc.

for the record, i work for a big crypto company and see this all the time. i have seen it work one singular time, but of course it's the exception and not the rule.

the only other option for you is to go to the authorities, or go to a firm like Coinfirm and book a call and explain the situation. they're going to either ask you for some kind of payment, or payment if/when the funds are recovered
