>new job is 25 miles away
>same time with no traffic
>it's 25 miles
>average american drives basically the same distance though
The mileage is making me question it. That shit adds up. Btw it's a bit under 18 an hr. I share the car with someone that works in the morning.

Am I being a bitch about those miles? California btw, but multiple incomes in the household

Commuting really blows.
I have nothing else to add.

I'm from Poland and I know some people who drive like 50 miles one way to work everyday. You can get used to that, just listen to some podcasts and don't think about driving.

I drive 15 min to work and I don’t know how anyone has time to do anything in the 4hl imagining additional commute time is crazy

Anyone who actually does anything is a NEET or works part time, no way anyone in the 4HL accomplishes anything

If you spend an hour commuting to work each day, you've wasted 2 weeks of your waking life (16 hours awake) rotting in a car every year. Lol. Lmao even.

Remote chads keep winning.

It's gotta pay well to suffer like that, and I mean really well. I did a 2.5 hour commute day pre pandemic driving 60 total miles and my life was misery 6 days a week. Only suffered like that because it paid exceptionally well and I could live with my parents. The pandemic was an absolute blessing. I'd never ever do that kind of commute ever again.

califonria gas is like $4-$5 gallon currently. so youd be spending like $10 a day in gas alone to get to work and back, assuming you dont drive like a retard and you have the average 4 cylinder shitbox and not some V8 sports car. then theres the time you waste, as well as the risk you take of getting killed by drunk mexicans who are everywehre without insurance now. i probably wouldnt do it for $18/hr unless i was going to get promoted or had a line for a raise

I get you have to do what you have to do and some are just fucked commute wise, but IMO you absolutely should try to minimize it as much as possible one way or another.

there's nothing to discuss here. it's a fucking retarded idea. IRS mileage rate, which aims to capture all operating costs of a vehicle, is $0.67/mile. that's $33.50 a day. you make $18/hour, probably $15/hour after taxes. you're working 2 hours a day just to commute to and from work. it's retarded.

If that's a lot for your situation then the drive is just part of the job. Its normal not to be stoked about it but whether its worth it depends on your options and how shit the job is.

My husband drives 44 miles a day. It's basically 40 minutes to an hour and a half unpaid each day + $2k in gas a year. If you make decent money it can be forgivable, I know guys that drive 2 hours to LA and 4 hours back on Fridays for $120k a year, but he's a fucking wagie.

I'll never grasp, anytime I applied min. wage, I'd get call back from several cities away for the same company. Couldn't get local to save my life, even though everyone was hiring and complaining they could find people. I got a Walmart call to fucking Whittier even though I lived in Riverside at the time. That's a fucking hour drive on a good day. For $11 goddamn dollars and my shitbox only got 8 miles to the gallon and could barely drive straight. How is anyone out of highschool supposed to get experience or afford college, even with good credit?
