The money "printing" (which is just usual lending) wasn't the default. The default was when the treasury de facto refused to pay for maturing securities/coupons to Russia and their allies after the invasion of Ukraine. That was a default and no one is talking about it but I'm certain it's what caused the huge inflation spike and blow up in interest rates on the long end of the yield curve.
