There are only two days in a year where I let myself get my hopes up and usually get disappointed/depressed for a variety of dumb reasons. One of those days is Christmas where surprising my mom and sisters with the gifts I got them is the highlight helping to keep it from setting in. I got up on Saturday, used the bathroom, and was greeted by my masked mom to find out that we're going to be quarantining in our own home. My dad, the least responsible member of the family about going out since the whole lockdown madness started, had finally come back with a positive test result.

He's the source of a whole slew of family issues that's too long to get into. I do not buy gifts for him. He gets communal gifts from the rest of the immediate family. Everyone is sectioned off into their own spaces at home with my mom running everything and having to take care of him. The dental work my sisters and I have been trying to get her to get done for well over a year and some months was only recently getting good progress and that is going to have be delayed yet again.

It will not experience a cascade of selling froma market crash. It will experience a cascade of BUYING. A market crash is not some magical event. We know exactly what causes them. Leveraged traders selling to cover their debts. Well short selling IS a leveraged trade. And it can not be unwound with a check. You can only close the exposure by BUYING the shares and cleaning up your exposure on your balance sheet. I actually have around $10,000 saved up and ready to go for GME to drop back down to $12 for a giga slurp so large it might kill me.
This makes the hedgies seethe because the eternal downward crab is actually an OPPORTUNITY because NO ONE BELIEVES the price. It's like a well-known liar trying to convince you the sky is red. It's so comically obvious that it just makes your eyes roll into the back of your head. These lies are so stupid and obvious BECAUSE they have no choice. They are desperate to keep the total return swaps profitable because that is their life support. Someone is keeping them alive.
