I told my workplace (only about 6 guys). Big mistake because all and I mean ALL they talk about is the dumbest, most surface level crypto there is and try to lecture me about it (i.e. “XRP is gonna be a hundred bucks soon!” “the marketcap would be too high for that” “what does that mean?”). I’ve told my gf and a couple close friends. Gf doesn’t understand a damn thing about it but doesn’t bug me when I’m browsing biz or looking at charts, she just sees it as a hobby for me and leaves me be. It’s perfect come to think of it. Friends keep telling me to cash out, it’s gonna burst, bubble, etc. I swear normies are so fucking predictable. They open a news aggregator app on their phone, upload others opinions they read into their minds and take everything as fact. I realize I sound like an edgy 13 year old but why do people refuse to think for themselves??

I told my brother about it. He just blows it off. "There's nothing backing it". "The Rothschild family and the government will shut it down". I try and tell him, "ok let's say that happens... Why aren't you taking advantage of it while you can?!" I've given up on him.

I told my g/f about it. She glances up from Facebook, "hmm.. Neat" I show her my portfolio balance every few days and how it's growing fast. Oddly enough, she gets more and more interested each time I show her haha
She has no interest in trading herself because she says, "I don't understand that stuff". I tell her to learn, she buries her face back in Facebook. Yeah, I've given up on trying to help people out. I just keep it to myself aside from showing her my portfolio every now and then. Should be interesting to see her reaction when I hit 6 digits.

Told the husband of my sister to buy Bitcoin at 3k
He did not buy.
Told my brother to buy Bitcoin at 4k.
He did not buy (and told me it was a bubble and I should rather invest in silver).
Told my coworker to buy NEO at 20$ the day before it went to 40$ for the first time.
She did not buy.
Told numerous people I know to buy ETH at 200-300$.
I don't think anybody bought.

Only exception is my other brother. While I was visiting him in october I told him about my crypto investments and he immediately asked me if I could help him pick coins and help him buy them, since he is not tech savvy at all but is very interested in disruptive technology.
I gave him some suggestions on what to buy with his initial 25k. His portfolio is now at 190k from the initial 25k (he bought a lot more in late december, but he made the majority of his gains from the initial 25).

So yeah, the smugness nearly killed me at christmas family gathering, knowing that silverfag got BTFO. The shitty finances app he showed me basically fucking spammed bitcoin price updates every hour, and I know he got them all.

Brother and dad: Dove in, coin dipped 5%, instantly panic sold, and complained about their loss.

Friends: Dove in with $100, coin climbed 5%, instantly cashed out and bragged about $5 profit.

Nothing good comes of talking to people about crypto. I'm going to pretend I sold everything and hide my powerlevel from here out.

I first started investing in crypto 3 years ago and got my current gf last year. I'm more a long-term holder than active trader, checking my portfolio maybe once or twice a year or when it was mentioned on the news so I didn't really remember to talk to her about it. Recently checked again and saw that it was up to $780,000 and after thinking about it long and hard, decided to tell my gf a few months ago. She was initially hurt that I was kind of hiding it, but I gave my aforementioned reasons to reassure her that wasn't the case. Obviously she wanted to spend it and I wanted to spend some on her too but I'm really glad that I didn't since it's now gone 5x in value since then. I suggested that she get into crypto too and invest some of her money but she didn't want to. About a week after finding out, I noticed a very drastic personality change of her becoming much nicer and physical too. Sex was great, would do anything I wanted. She then decided to quit her job citing various reasons and said that she would be looking for another one. I knew that wasn't going to be the case and there were other signs that she just wanted the money, constantly asking me how it was doing and following all mainstream news about crypto even without investing a single penny of her own. She eventually told pretty much all of her friends and put me on blast on facebook. Decided to drop her 2 months ago and have since disappeared from social media, cut ties with most people I didn't care for, and moved to a different state. I still haven't come around to the idea that I'll never have to work again and can just do whatever I want in life at this point but I've come to appreciate her telling everyone how much I had to propel me into my current situation. Thinking about buying into the travel meme or joining that group of other rich crypto anons in NYC who travel the world together and just chill.

The breakup went as well as I could have hoped since I really thought she would have killed me in my sleep for the money and I saw her looking up information for how to make transfers. I bailed within 3 days and paid the rent for the apartment fully for the next 9 months so she at least didn't have to worry about that while looking for a new job.

Kind of soured by the whole relationship thing at this point and I imagine it'll be hard to find someone who'll like me just for me and stay that way even after finding out about the money. I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I found someone on the same level of wealth or ideally a woman who also made equally good gains with crypto.

One of my uncles kept talking about how happy he were that the market were crashing over Christmas and he works with computers so I tried to talk to him about it. Turned out he were "just happy people were losing money" so I didn't care to take it longer.
My other uncle mentioned Tron because he saw some news article about it. I accumilated about 3000 TRX on the McAfee PnD that day so I offered to give him those to spike his interest. He decline because then "he would be sad he didn't invest if they rose".

>"if it was that easy [to make money] everyone would be doing it"

I think this is the crux of it for many normies. It seems to good to be true, so they believe it will collapse like a house of cards.

In any case, normies are hesitant to get into BTC for a few reasons. It's either that it seems to good to be true, they don't understand it, they are bitter about not getting earlier, or they'll say "it's just too risky".

Come to think of it, why are NEETs and outcasts so much more willing to take risks than normies? It isn't like NEETs and outcasts don't have anything to lose, they can sure has hell lose the money they put into crypto. Maybe normies are naturally more risk averse than NEETs. I think NEETs and outcasts are more prone to the "get rich or die trying" mentality, because they already don't really like their lives and they believe that making a ton of money will really help them escape the bottom rungs of society.

Quick rundown

>Creating a platform to get 0% interest on loans by borrowing from yourself using assets you own starting with cryptocurrency and eventually anything (house, car, stocks etc.)
>You don't have to sell your crypto to unlock the real world value of it (you just borrow against it)
>Could potentially make banks obsolete
>CEO Scott Nelson is an accomplished businessman in the supply chain sector (trax technologies)
>Tackling a sector that is worth 54 trillion dollars
>Creating a cryptocurrency that will be backed by real world assets
>Being built on Ethereum but is ultimately blockchain agnostic and will adapt as necessary
>Complying with existing legal structures in countries all over the world
>Team includes PHD economists, mathematicians, law, and computer scientists
>Very sound economic system including a hard currency (bridgecoin) and a soft currency (sweetcoin)
>No overhyping of the ICO and are aiming for realistic growth

One of the biggest "complaints" that I hear people talk about when they are discussing cryptocurrency is "what is it backed by though?". It is difficult to explain usually because it requires a basic understanding of economics (which most people don't have). One of the reasons I find Sweetbridge is interesting because it is attempting to create a currency that is bound to real world assets which is much easier for normies to understand.

https://youtu.be/dla42bY7k90

Here is a discussion that will help you understand the breadth and scope of the project.

Also they are doing an ico right now, but it is much different than other ICO's because they require kyc (mainly because there is no efficient decentralized mechanism that can prove identity atm). You can figure out more at https://chat.sweetbridge.com/channel/general

We bullshit about crypto all the time, so it would look really suspicious if I said I didn't have any money in it. Otherwise, I haven't told anyone about my holdings. Hell, I don't even mention that I know anything about crypto at all, which kind of looks weird when people know that I work with computers.

Risk aversion is a natural and important defense mechanism for humans.

There isnt anything wrong with it. You don't want to take stupid, unnecessary risks.

This is especially true when you have a lifetime of experience to inform your decision making process. You become skeptical of things that sound "too good to be true" because you may have been burned in the past, or seen others get burned. You might have the weight of obligations or responsibilities on your shoulder. Your parents for example, dont go all in on some shitcoin of the day you shilled them after reading biz, because they rightly understand that while there is a chance they could make huge gains, they could also lose their money.

And that would be catastrophic. They could lose their home, their cars, end up on the street, lose their future retirement, their savings and so on. Things they worked a lifetime to acquire, they dont want to risk it lightly.

This is perfectly normal, and good. You dont want your parents being irresponsible and hopping on get-rich-quick schemes.

The downside of course is that sometimes risks ARE worth taking, and getting rich CAN be easy or fast. But nobody has a crystal ball, least of all normal people who dont even have experience acquiring lots of wealth or the mindset to recognize and capitalize on opportunities.

This natural risk aversion of people is counter-acted by some people who are more prone to risk taking. This balance helps the species survive and grow. In any group of animals, there are always the ones who go out into the unknown. Sometimes those risks pay off and the species as a whole benefits. If they dont, the species didnt lose much, just one or two careless individuals.

You have to be aware of this and understand it. Be self aware and understand human nature. Don't fault your friends and family for being stuck in their ways. Try to show them the light and give value but, if they aren't open, dont force it.

inb4 reddit shill. This guide on investing does a great job listing the criteria you want to look for.

https://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoCurrency/comments/7n3fxk/im_truly_disappointed/

>1) How is the TECH/Whitepaper? (this should always be your FIRST question)
>2) How is the Dev Team?
>3) Do they have a funding scheme? What kind? (community donation, venture capital, institutional investment/buyouts, ICO etc.)
>4) How are they organized?
>5) How is their track record?
>6) Do they have any institutional or prolific backing?
>7) Does it solve a goddamn problem or alleviate friction anywhere?
>8) Does it have competition and where does it stand within that?
>9) How close to ready is it?
>10) Any plans to create, stimulate, and maintain adoption?
>11) Does it have a Marketing and media presence? A good one?
>12) How is its Mainstream visibility?
>13) How about Accesibility and Liquidity?
>14) Growth potential based on current price and supply
>15) Can it survive or at least get around the regulatory hammer?

All your shitcoins will fail one if not all of these.

Shitcoin, are essentially your subprime mortgages of the financial world. The way it works is that decent startups raise funds through VC (venture-capital, firms like Y Combinator), then they launch an IPO and make even more money. e.g. Look at Tesla or uber.

Shitcoins are the bottom of the barrel. They are launched by anyone with no regularity oversight. That's why all you have is a white paper and not a real business plan. No serious financial investor is analyzing these firms, they are targeting NEETs online.

Let's go analyze why everyone's favorite shill coin Fun Fair is trash

https://funfair.io/explore/platform/

Tell me what this platform does in plain English? No marketing shit. Why would a Casio want to purchase a fun token and put that into their game?

Wait. A 5K rig doesn't have an acceptable return? 5K will get you an easy 5x 1080ti rig which returns 25-35USD/Day. That's half of minimum wage for nothing. Electrical costs 100USD max for the entire rig. ROI in approximately less than half a year and after that it's all profit. Take that 50K total and turn that into ten rigs, and you now have 250USD/Day. ROI is again, less than half a year, and after that it's all profit.

Fun continued. What advantage does putting a virtual token into your gambling game (that will cost money to the casino right?) provide to the Casio? Where is the value add?

Let's assume they are adding value and casinos are buying their token. Well how much profit are they making off the token? Their white paper states

> Is 10x cheaper per bet than other platforms

Does that mean 10x less profit?

Other questions. How will they stop competitors from copying them, assuming their business idea works?

How long will it take to grow? How fast will the adopting be?

and I could go on. The gist is there is really little to go off here and what's given so far looks like vaporware. But NEETs aren't trained to think like financial experts (maybe they should learn investment banking instead of attacked bankers so much) so they can't properly analyze the white paper. It's wolf of Wall Street, selling the trashiest penny stocks.

Still doing research, but I love the premise. Being able to leverage crypto and real assets into crypto/fiat without some bank reaming your ass with interest rates and waiting periods? This could potentially free up trillions of dollars in liquidity not just in crypto but in the entire global economy.

Agreed. The expected value is off the charts.

Imagine investing $5k USD. Even if we assume the odds are massively stacked against you with a 95% chance of losing all of your money and a mere 5% chance of hitting $100k USD, it's still mathematically optimal to invest.

I don't have much money. I invested about $1,500, which is about 80% of my total cash reserves. If I lose $1,500 it would definitely suck, but I wouldn't be THAT much poorer than I already was. If I make $100k, I'll be WAY richer than I was before.

I'll reaffirm what all of these guys are saying.

Want to know why Apple is one of the richest companies in the entire fucking world?

Because Steve Jobs managed to turn technical processes of computing into "push the pretty picture to make the thing go". That's the baseline. Say what you want about OSX, iOS, batteries, thin tech, whatever. The BIGGEST reason why Apple is so highly valued (and why most of the internet sucks ass today lmao) is because he managed to bridge the gap between things that are simple to technically oriented people yet also extremely complex to the average person. Now all the normies have iPhones and they're shitting up the internet any chance they get and companies are SALIVATING at the prospect of how much money these cave people can spend at the push of a button on their phones.

Look at Amazon. Before the mobile revolution, Amazon was a solid company, but not a blue chip like Google or Apple. Now? Amazon is not only the largest online shopping retailer in the US by a huge margin, it's also one of the biggest cloud computing providers as well with AWS.

Will the average person ever use their own virtual private server in their entire life? No. Will they buy shit they don't need from Amazon? Absolutely.

Wanna know who uses VPS on a massive scale? Tech companies. Which companies get the most money from VCs? Tech companies.

Amazon is pulling in huge revenues from the top and the bottom of the food chain. As soon as a crypto technology platform can do this, Bitcoin will be done. As of now, nobody has been able to pull it off. Yet. XRP is trying, but fuck centralized tokens/wealth precipitation schemes.

Financial markets are reserved for people with a certain mindset. Everybody else just punches the clock and goes to happy hour or pays someone else to do it for them. For the first time ever the above average autist with a computer can participate in a financial revolution from his NEET couch. Do it silently.

Are you me? I think you are me, because this describes me to a T. Same amount invested and also targeting $100k.

Currently my portfolio is worth $7.8k. My original investment was $1.6k. Once my portfolio gets to $10k I am going to cash out $2.5k, then when it gets to $10k once again I cash out another $2.5k. Then I don't cash out anything more until I hit $100k (barring unforeseen events that require me to sell all of it to cover some expense that really needs to be paid, like something medical or something), at which point I'll cash out $50k. You didn't answer my question.

1. Why does any of this need to be decentralized with blockchain technology?

2. Will they actually make any money off this or will someone else copy their idea (e.g. Uber -> Lyft).

3. If they become successful, what's the stop them from launching an IPO and giving shareholders all the future profits instead of ICO token holders?

Since you seem to be my clone, how long have you been trading to get to your current value of 7.8k? And what holds/trades have you made?

I started just holding BTC/LTC/ETH on normiebase because I didn't know what I was doing. Tried daytrading LTC a bit. Eventually sold much of those to dig in to XRP. Dumped XRP at 1.87 and dumped about 80% of that into ICX at 5.20something and 20% into FUN at $.08. That's where I'm at now.

I'm not gonna disagree that a lot of the tech and companies coming out right now are dubious at best. If it in any way makes more sense to you this way, imagine that the dot com boom was happening all over again.

Sure plenty of those companies went the way of the dinosaurs, but the technological progress made in that compression of time and market forces gave birth to the internet we know and love today.

I believe there is a similar synthesis happening in the financial world. Will every shitcoin make it to the moon in 5-10 years? Probably not. Will their errors and mistakes pave the way for a completely new conceptualization of finance and technology?

I think so.

Regardless, there's huge opportunity in the marketplace and you'd be foolish to sit on the sidelines ONLY because you think you can predict the endgame of a technology that's barely even 10 years old, all so you can say "I told you so!"

Feels breddy guud that my mom is actually a well-grounded and reasonable person with absolutely no red flag behavioral/personality defects. Keep reading horror stories about anons whose families turn on them and go for the neck. Can't believe any parent could even contemplate this...

Father also knows, he was just pleased to see me succeeding at this.

The only others are my closest circle of friends, who are aware that I do this, but can't be assed to really do it themselves too much since they think it's a huge hassle of constant exchange jumping and forum/news monitoring. So they just kind of hold small, experimental amounts of the main coins and can't be assed to delve further.

I try not to outwardly show or say anything about it though. These people mostly only know because it came up in conversation way back when I started. Since then, I'm off the radar.

Gf knows obviously I read and research nearly all my free time. She knows how much I put in, but has absolutely no idea how much I have. She asked just yesterday when a convo lead to crypto but I told her it doesn't matter. She probably thinks I'm the negative.
Her dad is positive it's a pyramid scheme, she doesn't like discussing it because muh risk. I've gotten my crypto worth to about ten years worth of wagecucking at my job. We're going to buy an apartment soon. Even though I could cash out and buy 2 houses, we'll be taking out a loan for that.

No way I'm telling anyone how much I'm actually worth. Until.. I don't know when. I just feel comfortable right now knowing that only I know, it excites me. It's a breeze waking up and going to work. No work related pressure phases me and I'm taking my time figuring out what I'll do in the coming years while my money appreciates.

Boss knows I have invested in crypto since, it came up in a conversation once, but she doesn't have a clue how much.
My mom likes the fact that I "invest some of my wage" but likewise, she has no clue what my holdings are.

Why is human psychology like this. So many stories alike with butthurt friends and family.

I'm in the same spot as many of you anons. Started in June. Talked about it with my best friends and 2 of them joined me in crypto. The others said it was a scam or a bubble and it was too much work with no guarantees. ok.

6 months later I have made a lot of money and so have my other 2 friends. The others are always dropping passive aggressive comments like "it's not money until you cash out" or "beware anon, you should just cash out while you're ahead. I heard it's all crashing down" and some other BS.

It really bums me out because I really REALLY pushed for every single one of my friends to invest and now they're secretly butthurt over how much I made with "internet money".

I think it's even worse for them because I'm a 30 year old NEET with no job, living with his parents still and they're wagecucking in good jobs getting paltry sums compared to me.

If I told her now she'd probably 'advise' me to cash most of it out. Also, this glowing warm feeling of having made it would have been tainted by whatever her response would be. Fuck no.

Name 1 asset that you own... That is harder to remove from you than your bitcoin. Houses can be foreclosed, bank accounts inflated away, funds ceased, offshore accounts frozen.

But your bitcoin is yours forever. No authority can take it from you. No woman can take half. No bank can freeze it.

I don't like boasting, I mean, people can believe me or not, I don't really care to be quite honest. Over 7 figures, it's low 7 figures, not in the tens of millions, just under 2 mill, my original btc investment was 70 coins. I sold them at 21,200 AUD. The rest of the money I've made from Alt Coins. Honestly, I couldn't care less if BTC hits 50k. You can make more money through alt coins anyway.

I haven't spent much of it, nor do I tell anyone that I have that amount of money in reality. Out of all the friends I have in life atm, only a very select few and trustworthy know about it, and those are the people that are also in the market. I know all the dirty tricks people get up to, which is why I haven't told anyone except a few people outside of my circle as a test, and they've become closer and much more talkative to me than ever before. Funny thing is, they think I don't realise what they're trying to do. They think I can't see right through them, it's hilarious.

I don't plan to spend any of it until I make a good solid amount of money, I'm talking above 10 million, I'll buy a few things of course, and go on holidays here and there, but nothing special yet.

I'll stay humble about my wealth for a while, not point boasting about it, you get nothing out of it except a lot of fake people trying to be friends with you, and then women try and fuck you over by pretending to love you. I haven't even told my girlfriend I have this amount of money. She just thinks I'm a good saver kek, I'll reveal it to her eventually.

Never, ever reveal your wealth, even to your girlfriend, test her for her love, and if her love stands the test of time, then by all means, reveal it.

Not that large, about 50k. Enough to have a good solid amount in the bank account, and not worry.

>Can you explain to us hoping to make it like you have?
It's all about patience. For many of you that don't have a lot of money, don't get FOMO. You'll ruin yourself, I know a fair few people that have FOMO'd themselves and ruined their portfolio. I certainly have been a victim of FOMO. What you want to look for is, a coin with a good solid foundation with a serious team and backing. Right now, the AI coins are all the hype, the market is there, the demand is there. AI is an undervalued market (There is a ton of funding, just needs more) just waiting to explode. The entire world wants it.

I mean, look at it this way. Every person that is serious about investing in the market is a lucky son of a bitch if he plays his cards right. This year, and beyond, we're taking this baby to over a trillion dollars. All those coins you see right now such as NEO, QTUM, XRM will be worth a shit ton more. Now apply that to the coins that have a low market cap, but are doing well. The market will always go down a lot, but it will always go back up.

And please, make sure you get in on ICOs with a solid backing and future, because they always sell fast, and will bring you a ton of profits. All those coins you see for less than a dollar now (I'm talking about working coins, not shit coins) will be worth more than $2 later on this year. That's a ton of profit potential.

Every single person on /biz/, if they play their cards right, will be either close to millionaires, or be millionaires in the not so distant future.

Follow people who do TA's, Steemit website is a fantastic site for this. You'll find an incredible amount of knowledge from people who do it for a living.

TA's don't mean shit for hodlers, well, sometimes they do if the TA for long term potential, but for swing traders such as myself, I love them.
