nah m8, i slow bleed out will cause the most sufferring long term as btc maximilist get btfo and you get to witness them go through all stages of greif

The BTC/alts relationship would change completely if, for instance, ETH pulls off the flippening. If ETH keeps diverging away from the bitcoin pattern there is a possibility of that over the course of this year. Who knows how alts would behave in that kind of scenario.

So say bitcoin loses top spot to a coin (not specifically eth), I wonder how the market would feel regarding more alt startups and small caps. It seems to be that the alts may benefit from a regime change like that at least in the short term.

Exciting times with crypto ahead anyway.

Personally I see this happening over a longer span but I do agree. What I look at is the total market cap of crypto day to day. Personally I'm hodling 40% XLM, 30% XRP, and 30% ICX. In order for XLM to overtake LTC and go to 1.00 USD it needs to over double in marketcap. This will either happen from money being syphoned off from the other top 10 coins, or from new money pumping in in January. Personally I believe it will be the latter, I also think that the latter is better for the market the way it's been recently. The scenery has been shifting but I think overall a lot of the value of these alts is still relative to the success and worth of BTC ultimately so I don't necessarily want it to fail. I think BTC will go no lower than 8-9k at WORST.
