How can I compare the tax refund I’d get if my wife and I filled jointly instead of separately? Is there a way to run the numbers before I file?

Bump. Where else can I ask this?

There are tax refund calculators.
Google it

You ask an accountant, who will patiently explain that the differences are minor compared to the longterm planning required. Once you file joint you can't file single the next year if it's a better deal. Filing joint implies you have combined finances, implicitly that continues as long as the relationship does.

Use the software and enter everything jointly. Then use it again but enter everything separately. Compare
