Economic and social conditions have degraded so much that the average guy doesn't have access to a gf or a maid.
Faced with these constraints there are two approaches to the perennial problem of cleaning, dependent on personality type.
There's the fratboy/basement-dweller style, which is just never cleaning your living space, leasing dirty clothing and discarded trash everywhere.
The second approach is pic related, ascetic/autist style, which strives for minimalism to facilitate cleaning by reducing the number of objects to keep track of.
In a perfect world no manos living space would look like a dumpster or a prison cell but here we are.

It's utilitarian, only fags care about aesthetics. His description sucks but a lot of guys choose this because they don't care how it looks, it works well, and it's easy to clean. You can pick up a single bed and cheap mattress for next to nothing.
