Complete brainlet newcoiner question here. I've decided to use Kucoin for trading since it seems to have a decent rep here. I went on the "Assets" tab and then the "Deposit" tab to try to deposit money into Bitcoin. I'm not sure whether it accepts FIAT money to do this.

So it has given me a bitcoin wallet address and a QR code for that address. But being a newbie I have no idea what to do with that address or how to start buying bitcoin on this site. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated as I couldn't find any clear tutorials on the matter.

you have to buy bitcoin from a fiat onramp exchange like coinbase or buy it in person, lots of options.

then move the btc to kucoin

you're a moron, hope this helps.

most exchanges don't allow direct fiat deposit, so what you have to do is register at one that does, submit all the KYC requirements (photo ID, mailing address, etc) which they usually need some time to verify, and then deposit your fiat there and buy BTC/ETH and send it to these other exchanges (kucoin, binance, bittrex, wherever) to buy the shit you want.

The original exchange you register at is also where you'd withdraw back into fiat as well if you wanted to cash out

the fact that you can't figure this out on your own is scary

Thought this might be the case. So how do I even transition my bitcoin or ethereum from coinbase to kucoin? Do I use the wallets that kucoin has given me? Is there a decent fucking tutorial somewhere because I literally have no idea how this works.

Yes. BTW don't make the same mistake I did. Buy and transfer ETH, not BTC. Lower fees and faster transactions that way. Only use BTC if you want to hold it.

don't put any money into crypto you're seriously too stupid, you'll be one of those guys people refer to when talking about how crypto is a zero sum game and that dumb people need to invest and lose their money in order for other people to make money

If this is causing you trouble, you should not buy anything until you've read more. Holy shit.
