As a US investor, are there any foreign tax considerations when investing in a US-domiciled ETF with both US and foreign holdings?
As in, are capital gains and dividends from the ETF just treated by the IRS as a single income source from a US-domiciled fund, or do the gains from the foreign holdings within the ETF get reported separately and are subject to foreign withholdings?

How do you track/manage your deposits? I just track my total cost basis on a spreadsheet and have months/years since i started investing, one column shows the equivalent of if I had DCA'd $1000 + 3% compounding annually (dark green), another $1500 + 3% compounding (light green), and another $2000 + 3% compounding (light blue). And they are all formatted based on the value on a specific cell that I keep my actual cost basis in. Right now I can see that I'm light blue all the way up until May 2025 if I stopped depositing right now. When I'm far into blue like this I won't fall behind on my long term goals if times become tough and I can't make the same deposits for awhile, or I can hold cash and try to time the market, or even just consoooooom without feeling like I'm setting myself back at all.

The goal is to never let cost basis fall into the greens and to climb out asap if i ever do. If I ever hit red (it goes below dark green) before retiring I immediately blow my head off with a shotgun. I like this simple, highly flexible approach. Idk how people can force themselves to buy out of every paycheck or with a fixed % of their gross income without feeling like a slave to their own investing. That's no way to live life. This has worked great for me for the last 4 years. If my earning power spikes at some point I can either get many years ahead on light blue or just live it up more.

I should mention this is only for my taxable brokerage. Tax-advantaged accounts are kept maxed out on top of this. BTW THANKS for reading my blog!

Heh. It's to rile up people and to form a conversation. The job market, the stock market, the economy... it has all been completely horseshit ever since Covid (actually a bit before Covid).
I don't know what to think. Some say that normies have gotten too fat, rich, and greedy and these fake jobs (which are getting culled right now) deserve to get nuked. But that goes back to the innate greediness of humans and of course the FED. That goes back to Covid.
Apparently, the US economy is creating so many jobs that normies have the advantage so this is a non-issue. True? Who knows.

What I know is that I benefit since I am heavily invested in the US market, primarily tech of course. So yeah I do profit from this, albeit nowhere near as much as the big money.

The modern system is too big for me to conceptualize and understand so I try to focus only on myself and my gains. So no, I do don't care about those people. At least, not yet

Stop trading leverage ETFs for fuck sake, at least not in normal way by buying and holding them.

For EU:

On capital.com you can short leveraged etfs, and currently because of the "high rates" you actually do not pay interest over night, lmao.

Here, SPXL. Spread is 0,12 which is a bit high compared to others yeah, but you trade it leveraged 5:1=5 and the ETF is x3= 15 lev and you receive money over night. And the most important part, it fuckin decays. So with time, you probably win, except there is a gigapump till 8000-9000. But crab and you win.

1971 is when the is went off the gold standard and money printing skyrocketed. while the two things you mentioned definitely played a part, the fact is that inflation is terrible for the middle and lower classes, because less skilled (or unskilled) workers have the least negotiating power to ask for higher wages. obviously, the less skilled/experienced a worker is, the easier they are to replace. a business owner can raise their prices, and a highly skilled worker like a lawyer or engineer can much more easily demand a higher salary since their skills are actually in demand.
even then, those skilled workers and small business owners don’t really benefit from inflation, they just have enough negotiating power to make sure their income keeps up with it, so they are protected from it. the only groups that actually benefit from inflation are the uber wealthy and the government.

>> No.57356789

>>57356675
Low unemployment, markets expecting rate cuts and, inflatory asset backing keeps accumulated savings in circulation in people who have them. Zoomers and millennials are priced-out of the housing market do not care about savings in a long-term sense and every dollar they earn effectively goes straight back into the economy immediately. The producing side of the economy has suffered major setbacks (China), devaluations, over-supply etc. As long as inflation doesnt go back up, the markets will continue to soar, but I do not trust the fed not to pivot on their rate cut policy because I do think that inflation is going to go back up especially with the middle east and the potential oil/transportation risk.

I agree that it is overvalued but let us say that a stock has a dividend paying 30%. If I buy today and get at least one overpriced dividend payout, then if the stock drops 23% I still break even. If in the second year I get a reduced value dividend around the same rate, well the return is 23% based on the first year by price, so basically if I hold three years I can recover to break-even from a 42.8% drop, the return to "fair value". Along as I have time and a big money dividend then I should stay in, as we don't know how long until the market takes a dive. If I use stop-loss at a 20% decline in stock price I should be about the same because the time I spend waiting for the price to bottom my money is getting like 4 or 5% return, so I really don't get back in the money for about 2.5 or 3 years. In a recession everyone looses money, just the price of doing business.

Watching the market pump for seemingly no reason because the FED said if inflation doesn't get worse they might cut rates in 6 months made me realize that shorting is entirely pointless.

TA is "accurate" 70% of the time. But I would say it's more like Bullish TA is accurate 80% of the time and Bearish TA is accurate 40% of the time, making it a pointless crapshoot. This is because the market is weighted towards bullishness- people 'need it to go up', so market makers force it upwards even when fundamentally and technically it looks like it's obviously supposed to go down.

This is why betting on rejections at set points is, well, pointless. Instead you should just ride bullish hype, take profit and then watch the house of cards fall apart every 2 years when the FED decides they've had enough.

I let my pride and greed get to me. I got trapped in the puts Thursday afternoon and didn't take profit when I should have. But seeing as there wasn't really any big news yesterday I chose to hold the puts overnight thinking Friday would crab enough for me to get out clean. Usually these types of Fridays happen after data has been released the day or 2 before. But whatever I was wrong

and how much of that is federal money to build new plants? just last year INTC announced a few in the US, and some others in Germany and Israel, i guess it has something to do with the money Biden promissed from the CHIPS and Science Act

INTC was supposed to have built a plant in ohio or something but they pretty sure they just took the money and ran.

i think the process is that they take an entire year to announce it, another year to find the place, another year to build it, and then finnally another year to begin production, the entire process takes too long

Ohio They were supposed to break ground on last year but before they did they so they had announced an indefinite delay on that due to market conditions or something.

lol, meanwhile the one in Israel will be delayed because of Hamas, the one in Germany will get entangled in the european bureaucratic mess. probably instead of shiting out money they could have just rather easened the process to build factories and it would have been done with already.

Intel hasn't received any CHIPS money yet.

Yes revenue fell, but it was still nearly twice that of the mooned memeco. INCT can literally lose billions in revenue and still dwarf the chinkoids.
