What are your predictions on shareprice? Will this make reddit a dominant player?

>> No.57334509

Lots of redditors are probably gonna invest in this.

How do we ruin it? Mass DDOS campaign on launch day?

Ruin it? The fundamentals for reddit are dogshit and the userbase hates the admin, and will hate them even more after an IPO. We don't need to do anything, the stock price will plummet all on it's own and any redditors who "invest" will get burned.

Despite having access to user data on every possible interest a user has, reddit has been unable to sell hyper targeted (expensive) ads. Who knows why. But basically the ad revenue is peanuts compared to how much google could sell the same adslots for.

So what you're saying is I should short it?

I think most of the monetization opportunity is in paid upvotes/downvotes, but most companies are buying that from third party marketing groups. You can google "buy upvotes" and find a thousand different vendors, but none of them are actually paying reddit. There's no reason to buy an ad when you can pay a lot less to create the false impression of organic interest from your fellow redditors. The key to the business will be in finding a way to loop themselves into that and start getting paid.

I assume they will go for around 30b valuation?
My prediction is it dumps 30% before 2025 and eventually picks up. Reddit is not going away this decade. Its users also have massive engagement and are dedicated consooomers

Any crypto gains I have this year will go towards shorting reddit.

They have some weird algorithm that denies pretty much every ad without giving a reason and ZERO customer support
They are considered a joke in the marketing field for a reason

They will probably pitch it as "we will monetize our users' data for AI training" after the horse has already left the barn...

30b for a fucking shitty image board with updoots

Whatever the expected price it ipos for expect it to be like 3x that once it starts trading only to lose the value immediately before bottoming out a week or so later before finally rising eventually to a meta FANG kind of status. You can hate Reddit all you want but millions of people use it and that will still be there even after it’s passed to the public company overlords.
Also I expect something to happen with all the porn so be ready for that purge. It likely will hurt them but probably won’t ruin them like it did tumblr after yahoo bought them.
Institutions already have their tentacles deep in Reddit so it won’t be hard for them to force the changes they want

More like 10-15b at best

Should reddit have trouble turning a decent profit, does anyone see a potential legal liability down the road in regard to possibly overstating the amount of actual users?
