some are allergic to make money, but it's 2024. If you put your mind to it, you can make money online very simply. Not necessarily easy, but very simply. Just stick to it on a long enough timeframe, It's better than wage slaving, apart from the benefits and protection of a job. at least get a side hustle

By having a plan and using work as a means to reach your goals; one of which is self-employment.

I’m a teacher. I get snow days off when other jobs make you work. I get over three months of paid time off. I get to funnel all that money into side businesses and investments. Therefore, I am as comfy as I can be with active effort made to become comfier.

If you are working to live and living to work you need to change things up. I save way more money a year doing the same job 3 hours north from where I used to live. Budget every dollar and PLAN.

You’re gonna make it, anon. Delay your gratification.

The only part about work that's actually bad is waking up to the alarm clock, spending a few seconds letting it process that your alarm clock went off and there's no trick by which you can steal more sleep (Why didn't I go to bed earlier like I said I would?!), and then hauling yourself into the shower, getting ready for work, and heading out. Once I'm actually at my desk, I don't really mind the work at all. People complain about having to do stuff, but what's really soul crushing is when you have nothing to do so you're just sitting there opening and closing the same three tabs trying to look busy. I'll actually volunteer for more work just to avoid this. Then you get home, say you're going to work on some projects you have, and what do you know you browsed 4chan a bit too long and now it's time for bed. You also forgot to finally go to bed early today. That'll be fun in the morning!

To be honest, I'd be totally fine with working if it were 6 hours long, so that I had time to do other stuff, and I could somehow sleep in every day as if it were the weekend.

damn anon your life sounds empty but good for you for owning it

I'd love to never fucking be forced to do what someone else wants me to do and just be able to hang out with my kids, work on my own projects etc. all day and do whatever I feel like. Waging is shit. But it's ok, I'm quitting this year forever. I am done with it, don't care if I need to leech off my parents and in laws and I am a 40 year old man, but I give up. Will try to start my own thing and if that fails oh fucking well.

Pre covid I was in office and actually enjoyed it. Surrounded by normies but cracking jokes and actually engaging with people was kind of fun.

Post covid all I do is work all day. No fun. Like the fucking shining. Very seriously considering quitting. I can't take it any more. I understand people like working from home. I do to. But I got switched teams and nobody on my new team is brave enough to talk about personal lives. They ONLY talk about work. It's fucking INSANE. They get nervous if anything is talked about but work, they view it as time theft. Which is weird because the company NEVER hints at this. It's self imposed terror.

Why would I ever, EVER want to share my personal life with these people? I do everything I can to put on an NPC front and distance myself from them as much as possible. I want nothing to do with them.

>> No.57306467

>>57306430
Ya I understand why most people would disagree with what I wrote, but it's nuanced.
1 - no groups of women on my floor, because we actually do stuff.

2. By personal stuff I just mean, "Hey did you play that game, watch that show, go to the fair, try that restaurant, know any interesting places around town, just random shit. I agree, too personal gets weird.

I mean if we're in office what would you rather do, NEVER take a break, or once in a while talk about idk, ANYTHING ELSE lmfao.

And what bothers me is that they are all literally terrified to do it. It's a self imposed slavery. I can't help but lose respect for them.

I've been on hard working teams before, full of people hell bent on productivity and I get that. That's fine. But being scared of management, when management literally joins meetings just to derail shit and waste time, is bizarre to me.

Yes. School was hell for me until I was flunking and sent to continuation school, where I was allowed to finish work on my own time. I finished a semester early with 10 extra credits akin to 3 extra classes. I had an open period from finishing so quickly. I got to pick my extracurriculars and learned welding, which wasn't available at my normie high school. I went from Fs to straight As. When I started working, I would quit in 3 months tops, but I got a part time job for 4 hours most days. I did that for 8 months and then I had a health episode where I couldn't drive anymore. It was the only time I had a job where I still felt like a human being and didn't dread an alarm because I had free time to sleep in. I went back to 8 hours at a gas station and my mental health went so far down the shitter I haven't recovered even though I left 3 years ago. 8 hour days are barbaric because they don't include the two hours early rising for breakfast, shower, uniform , and mentally prepping to mask as a normalfag for the day, the additional hour for "lunch" you don't get paid but can't do anything personal because it's too short, followed by the drive home and unwinding, but never fully until the weekend, if you're lucky. A weekend you can't enjoy because you need to shop, clean meal prep, and possibly sleep to make up for how FUCKED the week before made you feel. They're really 14 hour days. The time you get up until you go to bed is just literally occupied by the dread of slaving.

>get a remote job during the pandemic
>go from spending an hour in traffic, working eight hours, then spending another hour in traffic to working two hours a day, three if i'm busy
>actually get more work done, because i don't have to waste 80% on pointless socializing

Better yet if you get a boss that isn't obsessed with tracking you. I see all these tips about how to look like you're always online, but aside from the two hours I'm working, I just keep my phone by me while I sleep, play vidya, shitpost on 4chan, or whatever the hell else I want to do.

The best advice you'll ever see here: do whatever it takes to get a remote job. It's like cheating at life.

>her job isn't easy but it's WFH and she'll roll out of bed at like 10AM to start working and usually ends by like 3PM.
>Tell her if she hates it so much get your resume ready and apply for new jobs
>another 6 months has passed, hasn't done any of that
>still complaining about her boss (her boss is a cunt but still)
>keeps joking about going back to any 'easy' job that's like a 20%-40% pay cut
>or worse that she "doesn't want to work lol"
>all of her friends with pussy husbands who let their wives walk all over them and overspend
>one of whom is literally about to lose their house because of recent layoffs
>still wants a huge house and nice things
>refuse to budge, I'll hold my ground until the bitter end

Everyone else I know will be working well into their 60's as they have begrudgingly accepted their fate. Meanwhile, my wife is trying her damnedest to snatch defeat from jaws of victory because of some fleeting sense of envy or because she can't handle one annoying manager.

>weak man capitulates

I don't see why you couldn't be a remote counsel for multiple different companies that don't need you 100% of the time but want to keep working with you.

It seems like it would be reasonable to offer services to people trying to start businesses as well, i.e. doing trademarks, registering the corporation and walking them through all the steps and getting things setup, helping create employment contracts. Getting into a niche i.e. like gamedev works well, I remember seeing someone years ago doing exactly that, offering like 1-2k startup package for aspiring indie devs and reaching out to various gamedev communities. It seems like the easiest thing too since you just have to learn how to do it once and just repeat the same process for every client. Marketing and getting your name out there and doing shit like AMAs to be "part of the community" is probably the hardest part.
