Where's the best place to live before you make it? Assuming you want to maximize your chances of making it but don't want to just live with your parents

so, like a rural town with a high white population and maybe a local college or nearby university?

Virtually anywhere in America that isn't California or New York.
I've been unable to beat the pay anywhere.
Hoard money and retire somewhere cheap in the Eurozone.

Do you think $1600 rent is a good value for a 1-bedroom luxury apartment? Been living in a college town in Arizona and that's how much I pay. I found some nearby rural towns that only cost $800 to rent a 2 bedroom non-luxury. Idk if that would be worth it or I'm just getting fucked in the head with minmaxing

Honestly, since it's Arizona it depends on the exact area and your job. Don't over min-max. If you move to a rural town and you get a job paying 1/3 of what you'd make where you are, it's absolutely not worth it. Companies prefer to hire local.

I pay what I consider an exorbitant amount of money on rent ($2300) but it falls in the normal range for my area and my salary more than makes up for it.
