I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as NeXTSTEP, is in fact, BSD/NeXTSTEP or as I've recently taken to calling it, BSD plus NeXTSTEP. NeXTSTEP is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another proprietary component of a fully functioning BSD system made useful by the BSD corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the BSD system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of BSD which is widely used today is often called "NeXTSTEP", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the BSD system, developed by the BSD Project.

I've thought about it for awhile and im going to just appreciate I can get full shares for cheap and it can still someday maybe get some value back. So im going to buy some shares every month (even if only $20 worth). Its a shitstock but every portfolio needs at least one. I'm going to drive to the HQ and check the place out if I can. Like a tour and stuff. Its located about 3hrs drive from here. Could be a fun road trip out of it.

How can ETFs afford such high dividend yields?
There has to be some Ponzi scheme going on, i.e. they sell their holdings to give to investors or use the money from new investors to pay out the dividends

Also any TSX chads in here?
I am looking at Birchcliff Energy with a comfy 13% dividend yield

well the main thing is since i have >50k this could be considered a building phase so it doesn't matter what i am invested in as long as it doesnt lose money. which i am picking only blue chips for my DCA even if i only get 10% each time i DCA i am getting free money working my way up to 50k. after 50k benchmark because at that amount of capital even an ETF 10% yield will feel nice a free 5k.

so basically at 50k i will allocate differently or possibly even move the 50k into VTI. then start the DCA into more stocks and restart it so have the 50k initial into an ETF then restart the DCA process into the same companies or new ones until that makes 50k. hopefully at 20% annual it gets there fast. 50k benchmark hit move it into etf now i have 100k in etf. restart.

I'm currently watching 3 copper companies, 2 forest/logging companies, 2 railroad cargo and 3 ship cargo companies that I havent put money into yet but am keeping an eye on. Part of why I got into stocks was so I could invest in some old school victorian-1900s investing style investments like an old investment tycoon. Im not autistic enough to buy the tophat but almost haha. Glad to hear there's another victorian investor in the threads. Hope you continue to have great success with this anon.

Eh that's alright. There is only one left and it's owned by Carnival. The ocean liners is a meme, but rail is actually going to be really strong. Same with steel coming up here with the infrastructure deal. Bought up US Steel until they got bought out, moving it over to Cleveland Cliffs. Unironically American industrials and manufacturing is my bet with the future. Things are uneasy with China and trade is becoming difficult, we are seeing a lot of companies reshore to America.

investing is a long term thing. you put a % of your paycheck into broker and buy say spy/qqq every week/month etc for years/decades. go watch some Peter Lynch videos on youtube for some decent education.
trading/investing takes a long time to learn but you can start right now with basic principles and smaller amounts of money. i started with like 1k 4 years ago. over time you grow that and refine your ideas/techique or just stick with the simple index investing. make sure you use a decent broker though. i use ibkr myself and have since i started and havent had any problems so far

I invested in trains 1 year ago and got rekt. This was right before the whole NSC derailment problems. I ended up cutting my losses in June after less than stellar performance. GBX was the one company that I made good money on. I still like what they're doing but not going to jump back in.

>> No.57288707

>>57288659
I am in the logistics industry and from I am seeing this will be stronger. The rails are becoming more efficient. The shipment of new cars for example was primarily moved by car haulers, but now rail is the best way to move cars, letting the trucks move them a short distance to their dealer. Lowering the cost for the dealerships. It's a win win (well maybe not for the drivers) but businesses are starting to realize that direct hubs from the rail carried a short distance by truck is more effective.

Thats is a very accurate albeit brief description, especially given the fact that western femoids do not clean their asses properly after taking a nasty steamy stinker. So when you bang them in doggystyle youre essentially thrusting putrid gusts of dried feces mixed with general ass-sweat directly into your face and thats before accounting for the other hole just underneath it which regularly releases all kinds of viscous fluids in colors ranging from yellow, brown, black and red.

it isn't necessarily bearish.
the other replies to your post explain one possible reason why, and the best explanation, but it's not the only circumstance.
if the economy looks healthy to them, they are still going to cut, you might just have to wait longer -- they will eventually say "well things are fine but a 5% funds rate stifles riskier ventures in the economy so we're going to lower it a bit now and we think there won't be a speculative flurry this time (lol) and the economy will absorb the excess returns and it'll increase our growth"
and that will actually work, too. in fact it could work several times in a row if the aerospace sector continues to work towards industrializing the moon, and grid electrification continues, and all that nonsense.
tl;dr emergency cuts aren't the only kind of cut
