I tried that, twice in fact and got connected to a "sar please do not redeem". Said they'd look into it and the item is still up for bid. I don't care that people are selling fakes, but people are getting scammed because they think they're getting a real sovereign. My take is that they are the second largest investing platform (if I remember right) and banning thier customers from getting into the etf has cost them a ton of users. They had to know doing that would send a ton of thier customers to other platforms. So I don't understand why they would do it. They say it's to risky for your average customer and they are trying to protect them but they allow you to trade same day expiration options. Also you still haven't posted any metals so congrats on that.

Theres a balance of how much they print to buy up assets, and how many iou's they print out of silver. Last i checked there are 400+ paper iou slips for every physical unit of silver [a 5000 oz comex bar]. When assets go up and metals go down, it bolsters faith in the federal reserve notes despite rampant inflation; 401k line goes up -nothing is wrong [to them] meanwhile housing prices and the many intangible virtual currencies &stonks are perpetually pumped, the baggies get their small share and remain silent, the homeowners have the property tax rates locked in, but then the next generation is stuck paying the bill. I get the impression you're saying *all* wealth should be tied into Gold (and/or silver). That worked for centuries, but nowadays value can be tied to so much more, like stockpiles of manufactured products, or even industrial and agricultural capacities (which granted is promisory and therefore susceptible to external factors). PMs become an alternative marker of wealth. This diminishes its 'intrinsic' value, unless it is industrially or politically useful in quantity. Gold is certainly politically useful and valuable. Silver is less politically valuable. If a nation's (or bloc's) economy collapses, PMs would be useful for exchanging for foreign fiat, if that is locally local practical. In the case of collapse though, industrially useful PMs might not enjoy surges invalue, as industries themselves could lie dormant as no-one could afford their product. Politically valuable PMs's values might be less affected.
tl;dr: gold probably has a more stable future than silver.

Not a machinist per se but I do CNC machining for various testing. There's 4000 series steel alloys but stainless steel is mostly 300 series, 400 series, or PH series per SAE types. There's some 200 series and duplex stainless steels but they're not common. To keep it PM related, one of my coworkers had to machine platinum once and collect all the chips to send back to the customer.

What'd the chips from platinum look like? All curly or did it come off in little needles? Also an ultrasonic thickness gauge is a lot cheaper than a sigma or xrf and it can be just as effective. Speed of sound of silver is like 3600 m/s. Anything not silver will give you a large error in the thickness reading. I have a pair ofnice ones in my inspections office.

And the "largest" piece from Teos won lately, for $28. It is a beefy 6mm and 0.22g. I think this is the tetartemorion size, then the others are a hemitetartemorion and the 0.07g piece is just a 1/4 tetartemorion, or 1/96th of a drachm. Weights weren't very precise back then, they had a pretty wide tolerance for the little fractional coins.

Can someone answer something for me… How do Jews justify the artificial price of gold and silver? In my short lifetime the amount of everything has skyrocketed with inflation but precious metal almost always stays within a certain range and doesn’t increase rapidly with inflation like everything else, it’s clearly massively undervalued. It’s value does not go up the way it should against the fall in value of the dollar.

How do they get away with this? How does any of it work? It doesn’t make any sense to me.

My first job I made $6 per hour when I was 15. That's literally nothing in today's money.
Interestingly, I made very money but savings accounts actually had decent interest rates. Even with my pittance of a bank account, I remember thinking "wow, I earned an hour worth of work this month" in my bank statement.
The banks are ruined and now all that is left is leverage and credit because the economy can no longer sustain itself on cash. And a deflationary collapse will blow out the banks. So the looting must continue. but they can ONLY loot you if you expose your wealth to them.

My grandma did too, they had thicker foil back then. Speaking of foils, its not very hard at all to pound a gold nugget into a sheet, just need a torch to occasionally anneal it when u feel it work harden but the gold is super malleable. I prefer tenth ounce for undertongue carry. I use coin gold because pure had no real flavor. All the flavor comes from the copper and silver seasoning. You have to be very careful when eating or drinking. Either take it out of your mouth or don't allow it to roll to the side of the tongue. You don't want to swallow it. Getting it back after swallowing isn't very fun.
Also don't fall asleep with it mounted in the undertongue position. Anything of that size can obstruct your airway.

Free gold is free gold. Melt them down, pour it in a mold and make your own coin/bar. I mostly do whatever test machining in either alloy steel, stainless, or occasionally HRSAs like Titanium and Nickel alloys.

If theres a lot of relief, it might be hard to get a good reading, the scale and calipers to measure the diameter would get more play in an odd shaped coin. But generally coins are flat enough, i use a dab of water instead of the weird gel that they use, work fine, but th gel does help with uneven surfaces ill give it that, be sure towash it off coins though, i donno the long termeffect of how the gel would affect the silver. Pvc tarnishes silver, donno if the gel has the chlorides in it.
