If there is an actual winner among the PoS smart chains, isn't that a huge threat to their existence since Wall St would coordinate to gain full control of the network?

PoW is interesting, there is an immediate energy cost, but you could build a renewable power plant in Kenya and finance by mining, it's much more likely to be independent of the current financial order and far less likely to get ahold of.

Are there any promising PoW alternatives to Ethereum? Is Ethereum Classic compatible with the mainnet ETH ecosystem?
