In the USA, not really. Let’s be honest, you get a decent house for kids, 3bd 2bh detached and that is at least 300k-500k. You put 20% to avoid mortgage insurance, now you’re at 400k at least with fees and shit. The mortgage will be about $3,600 a month even with the down payment all in. You can get 5% which is like $20,000 a year. You still need another ~20k a year for housing not including utilities and everything else.

Maybe if you locked in at less than 3% this is possible. But 500k now is shit.
