i might be missing something here. ETFs are generally used to diversify your portfolio, so obviously it's much more efficient to buy an ETF that uses the 500 biggest US companies as benchmark than to buy each stock individually. What on earth is the purpose of a bitcoin ETF then? it seems you're not really reducing the risk at all because you're still investing everything into JUST bitcoin and it's so easy in 2024 to just buy it yourself via any exchange. Am i missing something here guys?

well i mean sure if you're willing to buy a hundred barrels of oil and store them. but seeing how easy it is to buy bitcoin and how liquid it is i don't really see the comparison

Storing bitcoin safely is hard. Taking care of seed phrase isn't boomer's job. Also, inheritance etc.

yeah i suppose that's a good argument, it might mitigate some risks regarding the reliability of centralized exchanges. I just don't see this as the tipping point for risk-adverse boomers to finally invest in crypto.
