does ethereum staking make sense for small amounts outside of centralized exchanges?

i have 0.5 eth on a hardware wallet from mining, but it seems like i'd have to pay ca 5% of that for 4% pa and it would be completely gone if the pool fucks up.
am i missing something?

no you shrimp
staking make sense if you have like 50+ eth

>> No.57238398

not worth.

Pool won't fuck up anyway, but the transaction cost for such a small amount will pretty much wipe out 1 year worth of staking gains

either stake on CEX or get loaded and then you've got quite the choices if you wanna put your eth to work

At least 5 eth i think then you can wait for low gas fees and do it

You'd probably lose a shit ton of gas (negating most of your staking gains) on all the smart contract interactions for staking and unstaking.

Move em to CB and leave them there. It's a measly 2% or something but just from having it in the platform is not that bad.
You can also sell it for USDC and get a 5% off that instead.

Stake on Rocketpool. It's decentralized and doesn't centralize ETH like Lido and Coinbase. If you're staking on a centralized service you're the problem.
