It does matter because the ultimate clearing mechanism for these shares is the price. If they can only kick the can by suppressing the price to keep their total-return-swaps profitable that still doesn't solve the problem that at $16 per share GME is comically undervalued relative to other publicly trades stocks with less earnings and more debt.
That is the one thing they can never fix. If we all stop buying today then theoretically they will be fine until the operations of GME continue to deliver positive cashflow and stronger business relations etc.
The reason I regularly buy GME is because the company is ALREADY sold short and it is also operating profitable AND it has no debt. There is literally nowhere safer to be for an equity. Because in the event of a market crash, that collateral backstopping a GME short will be insufficient and shorts will be force liquidated.
The whole thing is ruined because of leverage and so long as you park your assets in the right place you will be handsomely rewarded.

I have a feeling that moving out of my folks basement will pretty much clear up most of my thoughts of "falling behind," which isn't helped by the fact I'm 30 fucking years old. Unfortunately, COL is insane where I live (NJ) and having half my paycheck go toward rent is ridiculous, but I can reconcile this but having more cash to save buy GME with. At some point having the extra cash isn't worth it though and I feel I'm better off just getting my own place, even if it is a rental. Not being able to tell chicks I live with my folks sucks, and just contributes to my feelings of inadequacy. I guess I'll see how I feel about it in 2 more months when Q4 rolls around.
