TDA has a chart that kind of shows bars/lines, with the center at the current price. You see troughs and walls based on short (few orders) and tall (lots of orders) bars. I don't look at the actual order book, because that does indeed move super quickly. You look at that wall/trough to see where orders are thick and thin. If some fag is trying to dump 8k shares at 50 bucks, then you probably aren't getting passed that wall in a while. So if you were in short term options and already making money, that's a good time to consider selling. Same for the opposite, if there's a big buy wall then its a good time to consider buying in.
Of course that also depends on momentum, length of options, and risk factors, but it was a good rule of thumb for short term plays.
